There's a lot of good whiskeys out there... Id say anyone trying it for the first time, IMO Johnnie walker green label is probably the best introduction. Its smooth, easy to drink, flavorful. relatively cheap (55$) ... man... my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
 
Johnny Walker Green is indeed a good one.

Currently enjoying a dram of Glenlivet 15yr; neat, but I had the glass pre-chilled.

love it's smooth caramel flavour. also have fan of Laphroaig quarter cask
