Eric, you consider the BB a TS type pedal? I don't thik it has the mid push, but you can sort of EQ it that way. Xotic is releasing a new BB with a mid boost.

In my limited experience with the BB (a couple of hours now) I did pump the bass just a bit (1-2) to keep the fatness I wanted. The treble I left at noon. Still working on the gain and volume I a have them both at about 10 o-clock. Just a little boost and to my ears the SL retains a sweet plexi-like tone.

For the T/D, both the T and the D just have a straight up nice blues tone. Surprisingly amp like.

Now I thinking of two BB's one for mild and one for more push!!!

Not entirely. I find it has the qualities I love of the TS type of pedal...warm...liquidy....but it's got much more options with the EQ. I do think it offers a cool compression and just the right amount of mids compression / bump for soloing. But is it a TS type....no..I find it a mix of a killer overdrive and a TS type pedal...kinda like if they had a love child... :)

I just can't say enough good things about the BB preamp. Definitely my favorite dirt box out there...well...minus the Suhr Riot....that pedal was friggin amazing! :)

Love Child? I like it. :D

So, I guess I can sort of hear the slight mid boost you speak of...but it seems most obvious when rolling back the highs or lows on the pedal.

But, now I must try the new BB mid boost model! Did they have that at NAAM, Eric?

Not sure if they did... We did not stop by xotic's booth. I personally love the BB as is, and it does exactly what I'm looking for, so I really had no reason to stop by. :)

I LOVE the BB as well but it doesn't do the mid boost TS type thing for when I need it. I guess if you EQ the bass and teeble you could sort of bring up the mids.

You know what might be great. The new BB MB (mid boost). This will give me both in one for when I need it.

I have been wanting to try the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus! I never have the best luck with chorus live....always seems to get lost live so I have been using a modified BF-2 flanger that I love and just set it for a chorusy sound when needed. Getting some amazing chorus sounds. It seems to cut through better live than chorus. It is also not subtle, you know when it is on...which I like. Have you had a different experience at gigs with chorus?

My favorite chorus has been the Jacques Meistersinger. also nice that it has a level control.

If this says anything..I've never been that big of a chorus fan....But the analog chorus is sooooo lush, warm, thick, and such...it's just plain awesome!!! Listen to this clip at about 3:54 and hear the Analog chorus do it's best try at a "Leslie" type of tone. I just plain love it for that...and some thick juicy chorus tones!!!

You can't tell me that would get lost in a mix...hahahahahah :)

It's also a great clip to show how awesome the BB sounds w/ the DLX and VX!!! :)

Very nice man!

Makes me want to get another cleanish model to use the BB with!

I just thought it would be nice to have the BB with a mid boost to really cut through the band when a solo comes along.
I don't find the BB has quite enough mids for that. Need more testing. :)

Great chorus man, wish it had a level or do you find it really jumps out when on...so no need for level control.
I know having the leverl on my Meistersinger was key but on my modded BF-2 it is a none issues not
having a level - the BF-2 jumps out in the mix without a level which I like. I want to know an effect is on when I stomp on it.

What's the tone around 2:08? BB?
How about at 5:00 or so???? great tone.

My only issue with the BB is I find it works best over an already dirt amp....not so good to my ears over a clean amp. You?

No need for a level control at all. It definitely comes in very well..and there's no need for it at all...

2:08 - BB into DLX ChB.

5:00 - VX ChB w/ some slapback delay....add the BB in at 5:05

2:08 - BB into DLX ChB.

I might have Jaded Faith make me a modded Randall DLX. I am fine with the one channel.
I see Randall has a DLX and BLFACE, I'll have to see which works best.

How do you like the BB over a true clean tone? I think other pedals do better there.

I LOVE it over both clean and dirty. I don't find the same for me honestly. I love it over a clean amp...love the way it overdrives the DLX ChA and VX ChA, and XMAN ChA. Gives a very "The Edge" type of tone...which I really dig.

Even with the gain at 9:00 I find the BB adds too much noise and compression to the SL2X or EG3/4X.
I just use an EQ in the loop for leads and it works better to me.

to each their own. I personally love it. But that's me

I'll have to play with it a bit more Eric. For me it seems overly compressed hitting anything other than the Bassman or a Plexi module. Like you said, to each their own. ;)

I am still on the fence as to whether I'll keep the BB or try something else. I need as little compression as possible, but unfortunately it is the nature of the beast hitting an overdrivern amp with more gain, etc. ...Since I use it over the Plexi module, my Bassman and my VHT.

I'm thinking about going back to an EQ for boosts as well. Every drive/dist/boost pedal I've tried adds too much compression, gain, and noise.

Exactly, the EQ in the loop is brilliant for leads! Love it!

Now, a boost/everdrive pedal is great however into a lower gain module like the Bassman, Deluxe or a Plexi based module. Into my two stage VHT ST, the BB is great...not too compressed or noisy at all.
