A top notch clean amp to do blues/old rock/edgy cleans is vital to my gig now. Not sure how many around here have plugged into Tone Kings, but the Metropolitan has a perfect clean channel. Excellent clean to slightly burnt clean. You don't just play it, you get inspired to play better by it. To get 95% of that in a channel switcher with a good rock amp on the other side would be excellent.... I would gladly drop coin on that.
Please post up any Cameron clips that could show the variety the amp is capable of. I have 3 amps now to hit those 3 bases.... Zinky, SLO, River KT. Going to one amp or two even, would be good.
I think the chic in my avatar will untie one of the three bows in her bikini for the first person to post a cleanish clip.
Thanks,
Softail.
I was one of Mark Bartels first ever dealers for his Tone King amps was he was making them out of the garage in 1993. I used to gig a Tone King Continental and loved it. The CCV isn't a Tone King on the clean side but it can get you 80 % of the way there and for a channel switcher it is as good as you are going to get IMO. With the gain bump switches you can slightly overdrive it and nail some SRV/JH type vibes as well. Don't think the CCV is just a metal amp. Its much more than that and is inspiring to play. One of those deals where you start playing riffs you never played before and they seem to be just being channeled from a really good guitar and/or a really good amp. Its kinda like that. No Joke. You may see me buy a ton of gear in the past but very rarely do you see me go crazy over it. Usually it just fades away...That is not my experience so far with this amp and I have about 20 solid hours on it so far. So far so good.
