So, I have a VHT UltraLead on the way. Will I dig it?

It has KILLER punch, but it also has that "dry" seemingly unsaturated sound that "I" think you dig. Maybe 2 months...

:D   :D That said, my fingers are corossed you
dig it bigtime! Like a tig ole set of bitties!

Hard to say. I think it's a better amp for somebody like yourself that plays in a band and not wanks in his basement like me. :D I think you'll love the versitility and options. Considering you've owned other VHT's and liked them, there's a good chance you'll dig it.

If you know you liked the character of the amp before and it's basically only low end punch you want more of, definitely try some different cabs/speakers with it before giving up with it.

I don't know Chris....aren't you a big Marshall guy? The Ultralead will sound nothing like a Marshall...

I'm actually kinda suprised you moved the Cameron... With as many Marshalls as you've been through (and seem to go back to), I thought you'd always keep one in the stable.

I'll still waiting for you to come back to the DSL again.. you know you want to. haha My guess is that if you liked VHT stuff in the past then I'm sure you'll dig it now. I can't wait to hear the review.

When I orded my sig-x I had a CL-50, deliverance and a UL stacked to try out. Played them for about five hours with the same cab and my Les Paul. The KT-88's have more thug. I would have no problem playing any of them at a gig. I'm sure you well like it. Well you keep it...... [I can hear some old marshal tone in the VHT's]

I'm pretty sure I'm alone in hearing some Marshall qualities in the VHT amps. I've never seen anyone else make that statement, so I'm probably crazy! :loco:

I heard tons of Marshall qualities in the last 100CL I demoed (probably why I liked it so much :D). You're not insane

You should like it. I personally agree that they don't sound like a Marshall (at least to me) but you already know what VHT's sound like basically. I'll never sell my UL. I've never played the Deliverance, but I've played a 50cl and 50st. I personally like the ST better than the CL and I like the UL the best.

Traded my Cameron Marshall for a mint VHT UltraLead. Been wanting to try the VHT top dawg for a while now and here's my chance. The Cameron Marshall was a killer amp, but it's time to move on.

I've owned two VHT 50CLs in the past and liked their tone, but they lacked some low end punch. I've also owned a VHT Deliverance 120 that I regret selling and now own a Deliverance 60 that I dig. The Deliverance amps DO have that punch that was missing from the 50CLs. I'm hoping the UltraLead gets a killer VHT tone with more versatility AND that PUNCH I'm talking about.

Any thoughts? Will I keep it? Will I fall in love with it? Will I sell it within 2 months? LOL...

Chris

A Deliverance has more headroom than a CL and a UL more than Deliverance.
Huge low end too.
You'll have to crank the master volume a bit on UL and adjust from the channel volume.
Congrats

Great amp and congrats Chris, but I have a feeling you'll sell it :)

I can't remember a time when you've had an amp for an extended period of time (subjective I know), no amp you've owned has been impervious to this not even some choice Marshalls I remember you've had throughout the years which is your home base of tone :D .

You're not the type to hang onto something for years, but who knows you may end up bucking the trend someday and suprising everyone

Yeah, the Cameron was definitely a cool amp. I have no complaints. It wasn't EXACTLY what I'm looking for, but it sounded great.

The problem arises when "EXACTLY what you're looking for" is a moving target. :bash:

Turn the channel volumes down low and the master up and you'll dig it.

I think you will probably dig it, but I don't think it is very Marshallish.

More Mark Mesaish with some Hiwatt flavor if you ask me...but what the hell do I know   :D

For a week...

Amp obsession, compulsion, fixation, impulse, addiction, ad nauseam...etc...

And by the way, a big thanks to JB for hooking me up with a nice chap to make the trade. I think he goes by "espquade."
