So I posted a thread about a week ago saying how I thought all you guys were full of shit saying that the Diezels just didn't really get along with the V30 Loaded Mesa cabs, I partially thought this because every head I've ever played through it sounded fantastic, long story short... you guys were absolutely correct..  :D

Anyhow, I don't have any funds to work with, but there is a really cool guy here on the forums who has his Mills Afterburner cab up for trade for a Mesa cab, I have to throw in some extra stuff to make it a fair deal considering the used value of the two cabs, however most people I know have no knowledge of these cabs what-so-ever...

Was curious if you guys have any opinions on them, the cab is V30 and K100 loaded in an X pattern... keep in mind I will have a VH-4 in the coming weeks instead of the Herbert now... you guys are always awesome and dead on with the advice and opinions... my Harmony Central bookmark button hasn't gotten much love lately because I love it here

Anyhow, how do the Diezel heads match up with these Mills Afterburner cabs? Specifically a VH-4 and a Herbert... thanks guys!!

i am considering this cab as well.

The same exact cab? We already have a deal to swap next week...

I'd say they work just fine with Diezel amps. Especially gk100s/v30s.....

I have one Mills Afterburner RL cab loaded with V30's and I also have one of the old school Diezel Grey face RL 4x12 cabs loaded with V30's and some custom speaker they were using at the time in an X config. The Mills Afterburner cabs are awesome and I prefer them most of the time, but I use the Diezel with the VH4. The reason being, the Mills has a huge bottom end and I like the sound of the VH4 with the bass turned up. With the Mills the bottom end is so powerful that I have to back off the bass on the head and it is a different sound. Don't get me wrong, the Mills is my favorite cab I own, but for the way I like to dial in the VH4, the Diezel works better for me. I really want to try out the new Diezel front loaded cabs.

LoL your awesome...how you like it with the VH-4? Is it just a "metal cab" like many have said? My biggest concern is harshness and low end flubbiness... is there any of this?

Don't mean to butt in, but the Mills to me is smooth as heck. It sounds organic like a great Marshall cab but bigger and more solid in the bottom end. There is nothing harsh at all about mine. I would never think of it as strictly a "Metal" cab.

Not butting in at all my man, opinions are more than welcome, especially when it's one like that that I want to hear LoL... sounds like it's right up my alley, I'm stoked, thanks brother!

It's most definately not just a metal cab. You name the amp, I've probably had it. I have yet to play anything that doesn't sound great through these cabs. The low end is super tight like a FL cab, but there is absolutely no harshness or beaminess. I liked it alot with the VH4. I used to have a Bogner and a Diezel RL before I got the chance to play them side by side with a Mills. I quickly dispatched those cabs. I do also want to try the new FL Diezel cabs, but for the price of one of those, I got 2 Mills cabs.

I've owned a bunch of awesome cabs over the years and I can honestly say that the Mills Afterburner cabs are my favorite out of all of them. You won't be disapointed. They sound huge.

I use a Mesa Standard Recto w/V30s with my Herbert with absolutely nothing like what you describe. What tunings do you play in? What kind of EQ settings are you using?

Chris... I play in Standard E and Dropped D for a few tunes with my band, and everything else is in Drop C or D Standard because of our singers range and the key of the song... my ears seem to be getting more used to it, I think it was just a huge change coming from the Mark...

I have never played a Diezel (unfortunately), but I have played a Mills. It is a deep, big bottom end cab that is punchy and the highs are pretty mellow. When I say more mellow highs that is in a good way being that you can use more treble/presence on your amp and brighter guitars without trying to control potential harshness. It definitely sounds great for more modern tones and especially higher gain tones. The only people I would think would not like the cab are jazz/blues players and really light classic rock, also old Marshall tone lovers. In my mind (based off all the Diezel clips I have heard) the Mills would match up VERY well with a VH4 or Herbbie.

Thats a load of fucking shit, Diezels Sound great with a mesa cab, I know its my opinion, but Whatever. But dont poison the viewers with such melarchy!

I don't think I posted anything that was negative towards anything, I never said it sounded bad, I never even mentioned how it sounded.... my little comment in nowhere near as bad as some of the big wigs that post about Diezel cabs here... I simply stated that everyone who told me I may not be satisfied with the way my Oversized Recto sounds with the Diezel head was right... in fact I even complimented the Mesa cab saying it sounds fantastic with every head I've tried... move along sir...

I have never played a Mills, but I have that speaker combination in my fl Diezel cab.
Love it

you had said they were absolutly correct that the diezel sounds like shit thru a mesa.... I said thats not true! :gethim:

Wrong... I said I thought everyone on the board was FULL of shit when they said the Diezel didn't get along well with the Mesa... try reading first... I love my Mesa cab... but it just isn't the right fit with the Herbert...

I don't have them yet, but ordered a 4x12 Afterburner Straight and a 2x12 to sit under it. The 2x12 will have EV Black Labels and the 4x12 will have 2-V30's and 2-CL80's. David Mills is a top bloke. Lots of advice and great to work with. They should be ready in another couple weeks.
