After selling aeoric's EG3/4 to RockStarNick, I'm left with a T/D and MHG. My M4 is coming with an EG5 and a module of my choice.

What would you guys add as a 4th module to this set? I'm thinking E-rect or SL2.

Dave

That EG3/4 is being passed around like a dirty bar tramp... SO I get sloppy, um, thirds?

TD, MHG, and EG5 have lots of high gain stuff covered, as well as American super clean and bluesy. I'd say get something british. SL or SL2.

So you're saying she's not that tight? :)

Dude, no need for both MHG and EG5. They serve the same purpose but EG5 is just all around better: same saturation, and same fullness (with bass boost on 2), but much better cut. I say, dump the MHG and get COD and SL2 to complement the T/D and EG5.

You will have every tone in the book.

Congrats on surviving the wait. You will see it has been worth it!!!

Being a proud SL2, SL, EG5, EG3/4 owner, I believe you NEED:

SL

Ooh, actually maybe T/D, COD, SL, and EG5. That should do it.

Probably something like sloppy 4ths or 5ths since I bought it from someone else!

I agree here. I think you should dump the MHG :). You won't need it w/ the EG5 man.

I'd say T/D, COD, SL(2), and EG5. Pick either an SL or SL2, depending if you want medium gain or higher gain. The COD is a great module to complement the T/D!!!! My M4 has the DLX, SL, EG3/4, and EG5. And that's one BAAAAD AAASSSSSSSS setup :). Having modded the EG3/4 w/ a 250pf cap, really lets it stand much better next to the EG5. Guitarslinger, you should try that mod out, I think you'd love it :).

Yep 250pf 500v cap.

If you look at the module w/ the tone knobs facing you, there is a cap between the two tubes on the riser board where the tube sockets are. There is a 1000pf cap on that riser board (there's only one there, so you can't miss it!) and all you need to do is solder a 250pf cap in, and you'll be golden!

What does this mod do??

Is it like a bass-reducing coupling cap off of the V1 cathode or something? Or, do I have that backwards??

It acts as a low-pass filter. Rolls off some of the treble. Lower cap value, the more treble you get :).
