It acts as a low-pass filter. Rolls off some of the treble. Lower cap value, the more treble you get :).

Eric

I don't want it brighter. :gethim: I bought the EG 3/4 for a reason :gethim: :gethim:

It's still dark man. It just has a little more bite to it, like you added a bit of "presence" to it. I really think it's a great change to the module. It's not a "drastic" change...just adds a bit more bite to it.

That EG3/4 is being passed around like a dirty bar tramp... SO I get sloppy, um, thirds?

Technically, you'd be the 2nd owner since I never took it out of the box it came in.

I'm torn between an SL2 and E-rect.

The 1000puf on the tube board is the one thing that makes it true to the TOL amps. Once you change it the module now leaves TOL design and becomes more SLish!

Man. I almost feel bad posting about the cap-swap mod, because I feel like in some way, it's f*cking with Bruce's original design.

After getting DFrat's EG3/4, I'm able to compare it side by side to my single-channel EG3 module.

See, to my ears, the EG3 was WAY way darker to begin with. Like, REALLY dark. Tone knob rolled down dark. And softer sounding too. The cap swap got the EG3 to be able to balance out with the other dual channel modules better.

The EG3/4 is tighter and brighter - which I love! I'm not sure I even need to swap the cap in this one, it sounds pretty great stock to me! Time will tell, but I'm gonna gig out with it a few times to really see. And compare it side by side to some other modules.

Vx will give you a different clean tone and a great dirty tone as well.

I agree here. I think you should dump the MHG :). You won't need it w/ the EG5 man.

I'd say T/D, COD, SL(2), and EG5.

Great minds think alike! :D

For what its worth, E-Rect is by far the module I use the least. Thats not to say I dont like it, but SL2 and EG5 are just killers.

i use the e-rect the most. i have it sounding a tad better than my mesa mkIII but with the same tone. great lead on ch B. clean on ch A. I have the sl2 and dont use it as much as the eg3/4 and SL.

I agree 100%.

In terms of how much use I get out my modules, it goes:

1. SL
2. VX
3. EG 5 (tied for 3rd)
3. EG 3/4 (tied for 3rd)
3. SL2 (tied for 3rd)
6. Erect

I agree here. I've put the E-Rect up next to the rest of the modules, and it is a killer module, I just preferred the EG3/4/5 and SL2 more.

My ranking of modules

1. EG5
2. EG3/4
3. SL
4. SL2
5. DLX
6. COD
7. E-rect (if I owned one...I just borrowed Jason's a couple times)

Count me in on seemingly short list of the erect fan club. It suited me better for me than the eg5. I think everyone should try both and see which one works best for them.

I totally agree that everyone should try both. I tried Jason's twice, and the same result for me both times was reached. But I did give it a try, and it just wasn't me.

The Erect is a fine module and thats why I kept it but I do prefer the EG5 :worship: Now back to the regular schedule :D

Actually, let me add:

with EMG actives, the Erect absolutely pwns.

with passives, I'll stick with the EG 5

I know you guys are dying to know that I'm going with the E-rect as the freebie. I'm a high-gain freak. So my M4 goes into action with T/D, MHG, EG5 and E-rect.
