I'm sure these will be very popular with TGP crowd. I can't wait for the thread of the one guy that says you can do a small gig with these! You know that's coming.

They are cool looking, but at that volume level my Korg Pandora will sound better and have any effect I need. This 'micro watt' fad will run it's course.

Make a 50 watt tube amp I can hang on my keychain and I'm in.

Instead of the popular and budget minded 5-20 watt Lunch Box amps, this 1 watter will be dubbed the Juice Box amp.

I like it.

^^ These amps will be unattainable for most people anyways, only those with connections will get one. Shame...

^^ I agree. I liked the idea at first, but with people like Fargen and Suhr making lower watt plexis and JCMs these 1 watt Marshalls seem pointless.
I was considering the JVM since I miss mine but really they should have redone the JVM series to incorporate the built in attenuator and self-biasing features of the Slash model.

I think it's a cool way to commemorate a milestone anniversary. Don't see any negativity in putting these out.

An expensive collectible, but I guess it would have been way more expensive if they put out 50 or 100 watt 50th Anniversary versions of the JTM, JMP, JCM, JVM, etc.

Give me a Class 5 head, added master volume, and a Tube Screamer. Done.

They'd have my money.

Actually, they could have taken any of their existing reissue amps, added power scaling and studio reverb, and I would be all over them!

If its cheap it may be fun to load with a hotplate and slave to a bigger amp.

Move over Marshall, looks like Vox is providing some competition. http://www.voxamps.com/us/handwired/ac4 ... ifications

This Vox AC4HW1 actually interests me a lot. Wondering what the street price will be.

Probably cheaper than the Marshalls.

Looks like 718 British Pounds, which is about $1100 USD when I did the conversion yesterday. I hope that is list, but its looking like it will be similarly priced to the Marshall 1 Watts.

4 watts is a real loud amp, like the Class 5. I guess being hand wired means better quality than a Class 5?

Handwired means they do more hand wiring, ie less PCBs. I still think they use PCBs to mount the slugs. Haven't seen any gut shots, so just guessing based off what the bigger HW series look like inside.

Comparing the Vox AC4HW1 to the Marshall Class 5, I like that the Vox has a Master volume and a 12inch speaker. I wish on the AC4HW1, they had put a switch to switch out the master volume like they did on the bigger HW series. What I like about the 4Watts compared to the 1Watt Marshalls is you have an amp that might give you a touch of clean headroom and is big enough to use in jamming with friends and maybe even using live. The Marshall 1 Watts while they will be loud too, I think will have next to no clean headroom and pretty much be confined to recording/bedroom duty. Last small amp I had was a '66 Fender BF champ, loud amp. Just wished it had a switchable master volume and a bigger speaker/cabinet. The Vox AC4HW1 seems to solve these issues I had with the Champ.
