Really? I ask for a quote with everything I buy and they shoot me a discount. Maybe you just need a new sales associate
Actually was just called yesterday by a new one.
Not sure what happened to my old one.

Actually, they matched GC for me once on a head.
Unfortunately, if I were a patient person, GC would have come down a little more on that head.
But being spoiled ruined that one for me, lol.

Wow. Yeah. Nice. Yes. Do. Black. Pick. Guard
Thats exactly what I planned on doing, as well as gold knobs, ala poor man's '58. Like this, (minus the gold hardware)..

I have one similar but with gold hardware. I thought I would prefer white pg but that pic Napalm posted looks killer.

I only have a sample size of one but it is a tone machine. Different than a LP but still really great.

Well I looked for a used one for a while and just couldn’t justify what guys were asking so I jumped on a new one from Sweetwater. They hooked me up to where it was basically the same price as a used one so it was a no brainer. Other than tweaking the intonation and the neck ever so slightly it was perfect out of the box. Well, the pickups aren’t really my thing so Scott is hooking me up with a pair of Wiskeys in a couple weeks. I’m looking forward to checking them out. I’ll probably opt for a black pickguard too.
Gorgeous...I love explores, have always kept a couple around. Pretty much always swap out the Pickups though....and yes, black pickguard is a must in my opinion. Nice score brother!!!

Pickguard is on the way

I just saw on the Sweetwater site that these are no longer available. I’m guessing they’re being discontinued. I’m glad I grabbed one when I did.

While waiting for Scott to wind my pickups I threw in a set of Aldrich laying around. Huge improvement.

In what way? Can you describe what you thought the old pickups didn’t do and what these help with?

I’ve had so many guitars in my day but never an Explorer—sounds like the same boat as you. Surprised when you said it wasn’t as bright as a LP, I would expect the opposite.

You may have convinced me to roll the dice on one—how is the neck? Skinny I imagine? Seems like in order to get anything but the ‘slim taper’ on anything other than a Les Paul you need to spend $3/4k+

I felt like I was fighting the Burstbuckers, not a good feel to me at all. I’m sure the lack of a maple cap has something to do with less highs

Those Aldrich pickups must cut the top end even more? Those are smokin hot esp compared to BB’s
