So what's a JCM800 Marshall cab with original G12-80's worth?

Mids on both cabs were identical, 444/1777. Just like the 444/1777 65s.
80s are great speakers, no doubt but they don't have the upper mids of either 65
Couldn’t disagree more :confused:Then again, I also don’t think any 65 sounds remotely similar to any V30, be it 8 ohms or whatever

Well, I agree on the V30 thing EXCEPT the first version V30, the 8 ohm Marshall Vintage. They sound like the Marshall label 65, T3120s but with tighter lows, and slightly different mids/highs. The last 3120 cab I had, I compared them and they were surprisingly similar.
But yes, the other 99 versions of any V30, Mesa/Bogner/Mode 4/newer bright as hell Marshall Vintage, off the shelf V30s are VERY different from 65s..and, very different than the 80s 8 ohm version. Like totally unrelated.

The 444 version G12-80's I had sounded richer and chewier in the mids-low mids than the 1777 versions I had. The 1777's were a bit brighter, tighter, maybe more open, but still definitely not overall bright or tight speakers and a bit more simple sounding. I preferred the 444 versions for that reason. Overall I definitely prefer the T3120 65's. I hated the heritage 65's. Haven't tried other version 65's that I'm aware of

I wouldn't say any of these speaker have crushing lows like one said. Really IME no Celestion IME really has huge lows or highs vs many of the vintage American speakers or Fane Crescendo's. Celestion's really excel in their midrange being the best IME

Opines all over the spectrum, YMMV.
Ask 100 folks the same question you'll get 100 different answers.
G12-65 Rola were John Sykes weapon of choice. Nobody around here thinks they're junk.
When they pop up around here they sell fast and for big bucks.
65/80/100 G12 Rolas were only made like 3 years. They're all in the same vein and all great speakers if in good condition.

If you mean the G12H100s, those have to be THE most mid scooped Celestions EVAR. I had a B cab with them; but didn't care for that scoop. They actually kept making them throughout the 80s, as the speaker that replaced the G12 80 in the Marshall 1982 cabs. My cab was an 83.

yes they're all hopeless. Buy some PV speakers its your only hope.
"Rola" Celestions were not "made all thru the 80's". There are date codes to back that up.

Wtf are you talking about??
Crack again eh Danny boy? East St Louis is not a good place, try to move.

You mentioned the Celestion 100. That’s the G12H100, you retard. And yes, you could find them in the late 80s, as it went into the 1982 cabs.
If you are too dense to know what THOSE are, let me help you.
1960- lower wattage cabs
1982- higher wattage cab
Now go lay down by your dish.
