Kinda on the fence here but I decided to let go of my Monomyth. Shea did the Blood and Thunder mod to this one. From the front it looks like a complete sleeper but under the hood it’s a fire breather.

The two left inputs are disconnected. The lower right is 3 gain stages (with tons of usable gain). The upper right is four gain stages with an added 12ax7 (and even more usable gain). It also sounds killer boosted for a different flavor.

On the rear there’s a Blood switch that adds some low mids for a more modern tone. A Thunder (depth) level, and a Metro loop.

This amp is capable of pretty decent of lower gain tones but really shines on high gain which is what Shea is known for.

Shea also recapped the amp along with the mod so it’s good to go for many years. I plan to put the chicken head knobs back on too.

damn if he wasnt coming out with the Skeleton key soon I would like to have this. This amp is special.

Nice amp! How difficult would it be to convert this amp back to stock?

I'm looking fwd to it. Any background info, etc greatly appreciated.
Its a 1974 superlead. The bottom input is 3 gain stages and the top is 4. The 3 gain stages is plenty of gain but the 4 gain stages can do anything. No boost is needed. It can do the Friedman type tones to the fortin ish tones except better imho. There is also a pot that you can pull out but I can't remember if it was a bright cap. This amp had some mojo that the second monomyth(ceriatone 2204 with classic tone iron) I had didn't. Not to say the second was bad cause it was amazing but this one just had some extra personality. Probably due to having different transformers and an extra tube gain stage.

I'm really glad you bought it. Unmodding it would be like getting a cameron or Gower and putting it back to stock.
Thank you. Bank account is less happy.

Def not turning it back to stock. Bought it to see what the Monomyth hype is about 🤘

Thank you for the info. Very excited to get it!

This amp good start for a monomyth. If you don't like it, his amps aren't for you and that's OK. Different strokes for different folks.

But I was playing stuff like Mastodon, Amon Amarth, Carcass, megadeth etc and it worked amazing. I had to sell it cause my car broke down.

I had this and a KSR Orthos at the time and listed both for sale and it was really down to which sold first. Had I not told Shea to hold one of the Skeleton Key amps for me I would have jumped on this. I have checked the classifieds for awhile hoping it would pop up.

Most of his mods these days don't include the extra tube and I think this was closer to the butterslax but it has the pissed off bark that I feel like the Friedman amps lack

Funny you mention that. I also have a Butterslax and was really looking for something with more bark, a little more raw. Can't wait to do some side by sides.
Very curious about the Skeleton key mod as well.

Real Marshall versus a ceriatone hence the mojo

It turned out really well honestly. I do think it was down to transformers. I used Classictone which are great but it's not the same as a 1974 marshall tranny

I remember around 2 years ago one of these 1974 Marshall Monomyth Black Suns was on the classified section of this site and it sold for $1200. Just missed out and this was prior to Monomyth blowing up.
