I’m not really that familiar, does the single channel SLO still have the crunch channel, or is it just the SLO lead sound ? Can you run the amp the way Gary Moore, John Norum, Billy White, etc ran it, crunch channel with a Marshall Guv’nor or some other OD, or are you limited to the full on SLO lead sound ?

The clean channel in a SLO is in circuit but out of phase pre BAD

I’m pretty interested in this - how is it out of phase, as both channels are before the phase inverter?
I never use the Clean channel, but I do use a) the Normal channel on Crunch and b) the Overdrive channel set to Bright. A) and B) are in phase right?

I think when you add an odd number of gain stages, the phase flips relative to your starting point. Just how it works.

This is why if you blend amps and try to switch their channels on the fly, your switching gizmo needs to be able to flip the phase when needed.

I don't this is a unique problem for the BAD SLO.

I believe this is what they are referring to. If you can get past rick beato..

You are correct. Soldano 'fixed' this in the changes he and BAD made

George Lynch said somewhere that the best SLO he ever owned was an early one that had no loop and was single channel.
I remember a couple years ago someone selling a single channel SLO on Reverb (custom order). I'm sure it sounded great.

Can anyone with a BAD slo do a comparison of a 5150 II and whatever flavor is their preference with a 5150 III?

Yeah my favorite SLO clip was a single-channel, no loop.
The SLO has inherent channel bleed and the loop has an affect on the overall sound as well.
See, I don't like the sound unless the loop is engaged and loaded down a bit.

Same thing with the (very few) Dumbles I've played. Maybe I like the bit of extra compression and squish.

This depends on the gain stage. Anode followers provide voltage gain and invert the output: 180 phase change. Cathode followers have no voltage gain and don't invert the output.

It's not just number of stages, but the specific stages. You have the gist of it down.

I have to agree with ' just depth mod comments ". I bought one 15 yrs ago with every mod- all the mods..depth is a must..I tried all kinds of settings and scenarios with the other mods..- they are subtle at best..maybe someone can find use for them, but I couldn't, and i tried every known style known to mankind and a few not invented yet..Go with the depth mod.Youll have it u need it,if u dnt need it,turn to zero
