goddamn i love this solo

most perfect crunch toan too for rhythm

several solos in this song (shortened version) with Michael Lee Firkins playing a song Jason wrote. There are recordings of Jason playing the main theme, but this is MLF. 3:28!

No More Tears is the first one that comes to mind, honestly.

Opens with an almost Gilmour-ish slow section, then a super nasty blues rip, capping with rapid fire shred.

To be fair I cranked NMT here before posting that. And I loved every second

I'm late to the game because was a metalhead for so long, but David Gilmour solos are amazing.

Great thread topic! I love solos that tell a story.

Here are just a few that immediately come to mind:

Love the long build up into this solo and the note at 5:00 is so perfect!

So many of these old Loudness solos are really well constructed.

And this one is super short, but I love the little story it tells..

Journey - Outro solo for "Any Way You Want It". Possibly my favorite solo ever.
Journey - Outro solo for "Stone in Love". Straight up hummable and one of the few solo's I can nail by Schon.
Dokken - The Hunter solo, my favorite by Lynch which is saying alot as he's got a ton of my favorites.
Rhoads - Crazy Train. Changed me as a guitar player.
Rhoads - Basically anything on Blizzard or Diary.
Vandenberg - Burning Heart. Perfect.
Vandenberg - This is War. Tried my best back in the day to incorporate AV's style into my playing, just couldn't do it.
White Lion - Wait. Again, sheer perfection.

Totally didn't realize someone else had mentioned The Hunter by Dokken! Completely agree btw, Lynch has so many inspiring solos. And Vito Bratta too showed excellent composition.

Hell yeah, Streets! I burned that album up.

Streets first album "1st" with Slammer had that staccato in his style alot like Vandenberg. I loved that stuff. I still listen to the solo "If love should go" at least several times a year.

I saw this thread when it first started, but couldn't think of a solo to list, even though I knew there was 1 or 2 I could pick from. I was driving back home yesterday cranking the cd and came across the next to last song and I remembered that THAT is the solo for me. It's probably my favorite solo of all time, though the solo from One got me started into wanting to put the energy and time into being a lead guitarist back in the mid 90s. I also really love Alice Cooper's Poison outro solo (though NO one ever plays it live...buncha' pussies). Anyways, this has to be my favorite solo of all time.

Nothing gets me pumped while also making me think at the same time like this one. There's something about the bends and note selection over that triumphantly badass chord progression underneath it.
