Some Herbert questions....

It is my belief that Peter designed what he feels is the ultimate high gain amp based on his own personal feelings as to what a high gain amp should sound like.
The fact that other companies have introduced their version of what they think a high gain amp should be, does not mean that the Herbert was designed around or because of any other specific amp design.

A Mercedes is indeed a car, but it is not based on any other car company's personal design.
This is how I look at Diezel amps. Some things in amps have to be there from one company to the next, such as a steering wheel on a car, but how they are designed for the particular company and what it feels it's tones should be are up to the designer.

I don't find any other amp that sounds as a Diezel does, or even similar.

Only Peter knows the true story but it was something like he played the amp the first time he thought the amp is as loud as his father and named him Herbert.
Einstein is the dog, and Schmidt the neighbor.
