It is my belief that Peter designed what he feels is the ultimate high gain amp based on his own personal feelings as to what a high gain amp should sound like.
The fact that other companies have introduced their version of what they think a high gain amp should be, does not mean that the Herbert was designed around or because of any other specific amp design.
A Mercedes is indeed a car, but it is not based on any other car company's personal design.
This is how I look at Diezel amps. Some things in amps have to be there from one company to the next, such as a steering wheel on a car, but how they are designed for the particular company and what it feels it's tones should be are up to the designer.
I don't find any other amp that sounds as a Diezel does, or even similar.
