Something inside Mod50 head is rattling like a mofo

Done and done. Already did this.

The head, if it's on the floor, doesn't vibrate or rattle. Its definitely caused by the vibrations coming off the cab.

Still, the vibes just don't sound good. Makes me feel like somethings gonna go wrong.

Are the Chassis screws all tight. Check all 6 on the top of the head I had one of mine loosen up and it was making some noise--The threaded clip inside was buzzing against the metal chassis.

I had this happen to as I like to take shit apart :D but the rattle seemed to not be so frequency picky

Ok, so I did some tests lastnight.

1. Swapped out tubes left and right. It's definitely NOT a tube.

2. Tightened all screws. It's not a screw.

3. Took off the tube retainer things for the preamp tubes. Its not them.

4. It's NOT the speaker cab, or anything outside on the head. It's inside.

While playing an A palm muted power chord, at a relatively low level, it's still vibrating, causing something to rattle and buzz inside. I felt the back of the 2x12 speaker cab, and holy sh*t... that back panel resonates like all heck. Almost like a drumhead effect. Is it supposed to feel like that? Should it be more dead? Would some polyfill inside the cab cut down on this effect?

Take the chassis out of the head cab and tighten all the screws and such there. The back panel doesn't resonate for me.

It took a few tube swaps, but them cabs vibrate. When I first got mine it almost vibrate off the cab   Just as I turned to see one of the corner feet off the edge  certain tubes are just susceptible to radical vibrations it seems. You can pull the chassis if it makes you feel better and shake the fuck out of it,but if you start to touch stuff in there, keep one hand in your pocket. But I could be wrong

I'm taking that sucker apart tomorrow night to take a look, and I'm wearing rubber gloves!!!!

Rubber gloves??? Why? It's not like you are going in for surgery...or Rubber gloves are you gonna truly protect you from a shock of a capacitor ;)

I had the same exact problem and it was the v2 tube of the BMAN module. Specifically an Electro HArmonix 12Ax7. I did everything suggested here including the "take the chasis out" and whadda ya know it was a tube in a module. I have had this issue with EH 12Ax7s so many times now I no longer use them. GOod luck man!

It was an EH that did this same thing to me!!!Nick, are you gonna give the Mod an ANAL exam,or you just don't want to get it dirty

Pick up the head by itself and shake it around, upside down etc......
Do you hear something loose inside? If so, take the six screws out of the top, slide the chassis out and turn it over. See if anything falls out.
If not, I have seen the handle caps rattle a few times.
Let us know what you find.
