Everyone, thanks for keeping this discussion rational. I am very pleased at the content of this thread. If I had dropped it at HC, there would likely have been the flame war I expected.
Perhaps my perception of the Deliverance reminding me of a 5150 is due to my ear being tuned that way. I used a 5150 for ten years before the Mesa rig. Those tones are what sounds good to me, so that's the way I tend to swing the knobs. So... maybe.
The more I think about it, the more I liked the Deliverance. In my reality, it's just not worth $1800 used. Even thought they are apparently somewhat rare. If I had the means, I would certainly add a VHT to my arsenal. I'd probably go for the 120 Watt head over the combo though.
If I didn't already have a "nice amp", I would be way more hot for it, for sure.
BTW, Death Monkey, I dig the Deliverance clip you posted at HC. Really nice. Edit: I am confusing avatars... Steve VHT and Death Monkey... Sorry.
