Splawn "Master Volume".. what do you do?

Yes there is a separate channel volume and gain for all Splawns. There have been one offs and exceptions though right? Are we talking about the same thing? My 2008 has separate clean and od volumes as well as gain volumes. Then, I put a volume pot/pedal in my fx to provide a 'master' volume' overall. That is essentially what Scott did with the fx master volume in the recent Splawns. I don't think there is much more too it than that.

Just looked at that Splawn thread. I think there is confusion in that thread as to what a master volume is. I believe ShinySurface has it right.

Please let me know if I now am confused.

When I had my Quickrod, I would normally run the volume on the front around 1 o'clock, and use the loop master to keep it tame overall.

I would be cooking things a bit, but still have some room that I could set the solo boost closer to 2-3 o'clock and get a little more saturation, and maybe a touch of volume. My memory may be faulty, and I could be imagining it, but I think thats how I ran it.
