Ordering my Quickrod next week or so. Still not decided on the B+ or regular option yet though!

My question is, I am very interested in the Nitro as well. Is there enough noticeable difference in the 2 amps that would warrant owning both? I will always want a back up for shows but I have a Dual Rec now and a Titan custom on the way. Thinking of offing one of the latter listed for a Nitro but if the Nitro is going to sound super similar to the Quickrod I may not.

Thoughts?

You are thinking of selling an amp that you don't even have yet, for an amp that you dont even have yet, or even know what it sounds like?

Can't comment on the B+ option. I think for what you are going for the QR (either option) would be best though. I love my Nitro but it doesn't sound like the QR I owned. The QR does the hot rodded Marshall. The Nitro is bigger and more modern.

I have the Dial Rec. I know what the QR sounds like which is why I am ordering it, the Titan has a long story that I will not air publicly. I like the Dual Rec just fine. I have heard plenty of clips of both the Nitro and QR. However folks rarely post anything of the QR which is NOT Dokken or Ratt related. Most all of the Nitro clips are über brutal. I know both amps are capable of "mild to wild" so that is why I posed the question.

Not that complicated.

I still want something for the melo-death stuff I enjoy.

Stompboxfreak has both a newer nitro and a b+ QR. Maybe he'll chime in here

I've had an old 3 pre quick rod for almost 7 yrs and its been my gas antidote ever since

Yeah, I am super stoked about ordering the Quickrod. Not sure I will even need another amp, but you know how guitar players are!

I am ordering one this week. Going B+.

Cheers Rich
Nice. What are you doing cosmetically? May I ask why you chose the B+ over the standard?

I'll give you a number for a GAS counselor.
Hi, I'm JerEvil and I have GAS!

I am buying blind. I fancy the thought of the sag and the clips sound great. I live in the UK so can't really listen to one anywhere.
Cosmetically, if you look at the supersport on their front page, I like the traditional box with a bit of weave. I am really liking the upright 2x12's too.

What about you?

Cool. So you mean like the JCM800 style with the large check? I am torn between something classic/standard or something unique. I got lambasted for my potential mock-ups but I like them all!!! Tough decision.

These are my top picks:

I know many think they are hideous but I dig them. I actually like the "menacing 50's toaster robot" look.

I am loving my 2x12's as well.

Did Splawn offer you those mock ups? Good way to see the amp before build. With so many possible options it can be hard to narrow down.

No Sir. I made them. Obviously I didn't spend a lot of time on them. Basically found some that I liked and Photoshopped them a good bit. Took about 15 minutes each. The cabs are mine. I basically took a pic of the cab, duped it and then clipped out various head shells off the Splawn Facebook pages. To be fair, option #4 is one of their heads I just stuck on my own cabs but I made all the knobs white. Theirs were white and black.

It would be cool if they offered an "amp builder" program. I have one for Jackson guitars and there is a great one online for Les Paul style guitars.

Very nice nonetheless.

I own a 2010 QR and it sounds fantastic. However, I am intrigued by the B+ and the Nitro. Have not played either but I'm a Splawn guy so it should work.

I am leaning towards 2,3 or 5

I have a 2008 QR, 2012 QR with the new OT, and an older (2007?) Nitro. The Nitro is definitely more saturated and modern voiced where the QR is hot-rodded Marshall with more pronounced mids all day long. I'm keeping both as sometimes you want the more modern voicing and Nitro nails it. Also, running both in parallel just kills. Can't go wrong with Splawn. #4 is the way to go -- you'll thank me later.

Right? Closest to a traditional Marshall look but still keeps the "perturbed robot" look while adding that bit of checked clith to match the cabs. It's down to 3 or 5.

I keep hearing "go with 4" but I am not so concerned with playing it safe for resale.
