Strymon Power Supplies - Zuma

I have the little Ojai that jumps off of the Zuma, not the R30. For a good several months, it was slid/kicked across the floor mutliple times a day every day as my supply and the Ojai were just chilling on the ground underneath. I finally quit putting it off and got some more duallock and now they are mounted up there.
I just double checked. CORRECTION: Mine isn't the R30 it's the 5 plug model but it has it's own black box power supply, a MIC part. That's what failed on mine. The cord from the wall to the black box wouldn't stay connected in the black box's receptacle. I mounted ti to my board, put it underneath my pedal steel, used it for a month or two, and it started cutting out.

Batteries do help tone over power from a supply
Even for a noisegate? I get that the sag from batteries helps ODs and Wah pedals have a more natural voicing but those are “tone generating” pedals.

Honestly most dont even need a PSU with 8 or 10 ports. If you have mainly analog units all you have to do is daisy with the new switching tech thanks to the noise filtering. Always ISO digital pedals but when it comes to analog you can power like 12 pedals off a single ISO port and daisy with little to no noise added thanks to the noise filtering tech on Switching PSU.

Most could get by with a CIOKS 4 or Voodoo Labs X4 and there really isn't a need for the bigger units for most unless you run a lot of digital units or have a lot of high draw or different voltage pedals.

A noisegate with a Duracell is the best tone secret on earth if you wanna improve your tone . Especially for hard rock and metal. I’ve tested this a million times . Batteries do help tone over power from a supply
They do. I think it's also iirc because the carbon batteries have a richer tone than the more brittle lithium battery sound in the pedals I've tried them in. Those who haven't tried it can say it doesn't matter, cork sniffer-y, blah blah, but it's true and not a subtle difference IME comparing

They noisegste adds sag with power , with a battery inside it creates less and more tightness . I totally use a noise gate with a battery to make my tone more articulate . And with a battery in it I can use more gain from my amp and eqs . I can’t even judge an amp until I use a battery powered ns 2 . It does something magical for me I can’t live without . This is just me . But it totally makes any amp better for myself . Others might find it way too tight .

Ahhh that makes sense! What a garbage way to shoot your device in the foot. (Strymon, not you)

It was my first pedal power supply and soured me on ever using them in a gigging situation. It was like $160 too. So in other word's $320 just to gig a few pedals reliably since you def need a backup with that clunker. $320 will buy a lot of 9v batteries....I thought I was alone in this but @Techdeth is my homie now with the plush carpeting and 9v love.

Well as a follow up - Strymon repaired it at no cost so that was cool. I'll give them one mulligan. Something else happens ill find a different supply.

When you say "no cost" did they cover the shipping to/from?

I’m obsessed with batteries lol
Eric Johnson taught me this

He was on to something. The eveready super classics are great but man they don't go very far so I generally just use duracells. They seem to impart a nice coppery tone to the top end.

I forgot to add "...and jail cells" to that title. I've let you down. I couldn't possibly get into the private trolling industry now.
