i would but it cost a small fortune to ship cause it weighs 50 lbs....and im saving that cash towards my new VHT 2902. :D

I figured as much :) I wouldn't part with my VHT 2902 for anything. I'd give up the Mod50 before that for sure!

  The only thing is the 100 watt feel, but it's real close!!!!I'm really afraid of sticking the 6550 in the Mod 100 :rawk: :worship: today I will!!!

Just get over it and buy 6550s for everything ;). You know you want to ;)
Oh,that's a given

I've found the KT-88s (Ruby, JJ and Genelex) to be a warmer sounding tube than the 6550C so far, with more going on in the mids...the 6550C has more bite (comparing in the RT2/50.)

When I first bought my 2902 it had KT88s. I did a side by side comparison of the KT88s that VHT put in (Ruby) to the Svetlana 6550C's and the KT88s to me were hollow in the mids. For me, the 6550s had a better smoother mid-range and more higher end sparkle. The KT88s had a bit more "growl" to them in the lower mids, but "for me" the 6550s had a more muscular feel, with a smoother response.

But that's me :). YMMV! :) I've just liked the 6550s because they really let each module do what it does well.

Oh i planned on putting KT88s in on the other side. I have 2 RTs so i will have a great combo of tubes. so far the first RT is staying stock.

Eric Guitar Center has them but they have them listed by medium/Green, soft/ red, Hard /Blue ???? what is up with that? i was ready and then i got confused, lol.

Same with the Genalex Gold Lion KT88 soft, medium, hard????? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! lol

The 6550s seem to smooth out the tone and lets the modules BREATHE LIFE and with the JJE34Ls gives it the dirt(harshness) and right now ,it's a match made in tone heaven.Did the same to the Mod 100.It just sounds freakin huge man!!!

By the way, which one of you guys bought the last Duet at Doug's :gethim:
