It’s not allowed anymore, to flaunt masculinity….just ask Billy Squier…?

watched an interview with him...he said that vid destroyed his career. At the time dancing and shit was a big thing....dirty dancing and other movies I assume. He said the execs thought it would be a great idea.....lol....poor guy. Watched him play live on an mtv show in the late 80's...he was leathered up and big hair....brought the pain. I think it was like yo mtv dance or something.

I used to wear loggers all the time. Was I ahead of my time? Or am I just a hillbilly? Georgia comfort loggers FTW.....

Absolute badass and zakk copied just a lil bit from him.

Yep. Sykes was doing those squeals on the low strings before Zakk did. He's doing them all over the Thin Lizzy track called "Thunder and Lightning" for example.

Check this out! If you don't have this album you're missing out. If there was any justice, this album would be legendary.

Scott Gorham takes the first rippin' solo, Darren Wharton's synth solo is fucking face melting (no, really!), then Sykes lets loose with a nuclear explosion.

Wow! Ya learn something new everyday. I had no idea lizzy had any music on the heavy side. And Sykes rips as usual.

The last Thin Lizzy album "Thunder and Lighting" was heavy AF. Brilliant record. This links to the whole album on a playlist. Enjoy!

Starts with the title track:

Some people are Born to Rock
Sykes is a genetically engineered rock star.
He must've made so much loot from 87 and invested it well so as to not have to work anymore.
Publication rights split between Sykes and Coverdale. I'm sure Sykes made that clear and contractual before teaming up with Dave. That's where the loot is. Those songs on that album are legendary and define WS as a band, even after Coverdale stupidly offed Sykes.

There's a guy in town, he was a rhythm player in a late 80s band here. They recorded 1 album, and went to Europe on a short tour and some stations over there played a few of their songs. This was a very brief thing....but he got paid as the other guys did, and it was enough to buy a decent house here in town long ago.
That's just from a nobody band that no one ever heard of. Just imagine what Sykes took in.

JS is a success and trend setter. Unfortunately many 80's pukes are broke these days living 500 million to 500 million on thier 19th " final tour".
1st world problems.

I bought this CD as I wanted to hear Sykes with Thin Lizzy. Great CD! Does anyone like Tygers of Pan Tang? I think "Gangland" and "Hellbound" are cool songs.
