Talk me back into a Tourmaster

People who complain about the Tourmaster- You have to wonder: How nitpicky are they being? How much time did they spend with the amp really working all the controls? What did they plug into it? If they put a $300 Ibanez into a $1500 amp you probably can't fairly judge the amp on that.

i disagree with that last one len, friendly like though.

even 2 of my lower end guitars sounded great through this rig when i tried it out.
cant wait to really get under there. put some of my les pauls in it and my ibanez jem too.

love this amp. hoping i have the "M" mod..as i dont have the amp yet, but will tonight.

It's a great amp. I think it is the best of the line, actually, and a little bit unsung. Yeah, it's heavy and the line out is noisy, but so what. Nothing is perfect. I'm not surprised that a lower end guitar sounds good through it, but still, if people are going to try out a high end amp, then it is only fair to try it out with a high end guitar. Otherwise, what's the point?

There are many many types of amps. Get what you like. Being tied to a brand is normally bad as it limits your options if you want the best. The whole 'talk me into something' bit seems odd to me. Maybe just a choice of words or phrasing that is normal in your circles. I am an old biker, in my circles that comment would get you told to grow a set and get what you like.

I have a Tourmaster oversized 2x12 cab. It is pretty good, has a great thump, and handles whatever I throw at it. Amps were good tone, just not the voicing I was looking for. A guy I know at the Guitar Center here calls them "Negnaters", as they quite often get returned by customers and hit their sales commissions as a negative later down the road. That is enough of a consensus of comments on less than excellent quality, from this and other forums, and a guy working at GC, for me to be wary of the quality of the product.

Buy what you like and rock on.....

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but the "Talk me back into a Tourmaster" thing seems odd to me as well. I have been an Egnater MOD 100 user for years and I love my rig, can't speak for the Tourmaster.

I have no idea of what sound you are looking for, and the only person that can answer that is you!

I hope you find your sound.

I purchased a Tourmaster 4212 used from guitar center about 2 months ago and was running it at 16 ohms. It sounded great but when it got hot it would break up and sound like crap. At the new years eve show the vocals where bleeding through it so I emailed egnater to find out what ohms I should run and they said 8ohms. Now I can not get the sound I want. I play in a cover band doing covers by Godsmack, Drowning Pool, sevendust, and other heavy bands. I have a show this weekend and I am going to see if it breaks up running it at 8ohms. If anyone has any suggestions please help. What would cause this to sound good at the begening of the night but about half way through it breaks up and has no sustain. I use ch 3 for almost every song with a PRS. Could this be a tube problem

power tubes most likely.
what are in it?

or, a bias issue.

what do you mean by vocals where bleeding thru?

are you putting it on standby during set breaks?
