If you want any guitar in good shape, regardless of the price you pay, then it should go to a luthier. I have seen budget Epiphones get some fret leveling and some top-shelf guitars needing trust rod tightening and nut changed. It doesn't matter how much you paid for it, a good luthier is usually needed to make it the best it can be. Unless it's a custom guitar. Then you expect it to be perfect out of the case. Same with a relic. You pay extra for the extra attention that guitars should all get anyway. Quality control is just checking to make sure it works. A luthier actually sets up a guitar and does whatever modifications are needed to make it a top-shelf guitar and gig-ready.
