Is anyone using the nova system in the loop of their renegade? How do you like it?

I use the Nova System with my Mod 50 head and I like it. Good effects overall and easy to use.

I have the REBEL 20 and actually looking to a RENEGADE. I use the Nova System in front and it sounds good. The effects sounded better through the effects loop but i was getting a lot of noise through it. I hear the rebels tend to do that but the renegades should be ok. Sorry i couldn't be more help. The nova and any egnater are pretty sweet. Actually i will probably never buy another amp other than egnater. They are just so great! Cant wait to get my Renegade. Let me know if you try it and how it works...

That's exactly what I run and I love it. Very clear, not drain whatsoever on the tone. I think it's the only unit out there that preserves the integrity of the tone and is very easy to work with live.

I'm lovin my renegades more with each passing day. I run a mi audio blues pro with light fuzz, ocd v4 and a bbe wah up front, and a mxr 6 band eq, a mxr carbon copy in the loop-also a never ending trials of a digital delay in the loop-currently a dd7. I mostly run with just the eq and cc.

ramblin390 - you are loving the renegade .. im trying to save u to get one .. i have the rebel 20 now and want the renegade... so its well worth the upgrade in tone and versatility?

I really like mine, I found once I dialed in my exact tone-it took a little while-I can adjust the amp for a variety of tones I want or need.

you ever play or have the rebel? just wanted to make sure the renegade was in fact a better amp ...

I dont know if its a better amp, but the renegade suits my needs and wants better.

you think that its a closed back compared to an open back it wont sound as good? Is there a way to open the back of the renegade?

I;m thinking i am just gonna get it anyway ... i havent heard anything but great review on the renegade. I love the rebel through the 2x12 marshall, but having just one monster amp 65W 1x12 is going to be better for me i think. and 2 channels is more suiting to me than 1 channel on the rebel even though i run my gain though the nova but maybe this way i wont need to an use the renegade gain channel.

cant you go to a music shop and demo the renegade? I have a half stack and a combo, more thump from the stack, but the k100 in the combo will shake the walls.

yeah a small shop near where i live has the combo .. it sounded so good when i demoed it but i couldnt really crank it cause of the small place. GC doesnt carry the combo version around where i am and the House of Guitars isnt an egnater dealer yet..

Yeah everyone is saying it can shake walls so im gonna go for it .. i hate selling my rebel but its time to upgrade. i can always downgrade but i doubt i will missi t once i have the renegade.

thanks for your help though!

This has me very interested because I have so much money wrapped up in pedals that could be put to good use elsewhere, plus I would like the capability to select a patch or preset that has all the effects I need, such as a lead patch with comp, delay, reverb and a mid boost or volume boost, etc. Same with clean tones, would be nice to hit a buttom and get what I want.

How intuitive is this unit and is the tuner and noise gate of good quality enough to replace pedals?

I was close to going with the Damage Control Glass Nexus but then decide I might want to go a step more and get more programability. Tough call.

I have a Rebel 30, and love it so much that have been looking at the Renegade as well as other Egnaters.

The Renegade is pretty awesome with the second master and all these cool features. To me, it sounds very much like a more powerful Rebel 30. Definitely a great, affordable 2 channel amp.

One thing that bugs me about both of these (and the Tourmaster as well) is the reverb and its interaction with the effect loop. Using the amp's reverb and a volume pedal in the loop, I can hear the reverb even with the volume pedal completely off. It's faint, but you can hear some sound, extremely reverby.

Sounds like there's a parallel feed to the reverb pre-loop that's causing this. It's minor, but bugs the heck out of me.

At first I thought it was the digital reverb, but the Tourmaster does the same thing, so it's more of a design-decision, I suppose.

PS: I have never tried the nova System, but I'm curious.
I use a GT8 (hooked up with the 4CM), and it works really well in the loop.
I don't expect the Nova System to be any different.

I have owned the Nova System for about 4 weeks now and have experimented with it through several of my amps. So far, I am very pleased with the sound quality of sound that I am achieving while using the Nova System.

Tonight, for the first time I set up the Nova System in the loop of my Renegade 212 combo and am very pleased with the results! I have chosen to set it up through the Renegade loop because I really love the great tones that I achieve in both channels of the Renegade....and do not wish to use the Nova System drive sounds that are offered. Not that they are bad, but IMO...they are not nearly as good as what I achieve out of Ch2 of the Renegade.

I do not care for any of the factory presets offered in the Nova System.......especially the "drive settings" when plugging a guitar into the "Drive In" and the Nova System into an amp. However, even while using the "drive in" feature of the NS and going directly in a clean setting of a decent amp.....the drive features of the Nova System can sound quite good....just don't expect it from the factory settings IMO.

Basically, I use the Nova System mainly for adding nice delays and reverbs. I think the Nova System does a great job of adding some nice delay / reverb effects in all of my amps without robbing tone from the amps (when the unit is set up right for each amp). So far, I have not been overly impressed with the chorus, flanger, phaser and pitch shift modules in this unit, but to be fair......I really don't like using these effects much at all.....so I haven't spent any time with them. I am sure there are good sounds to be had in the Nova System for these modular types of effects if that is your cup of tea.

Anyway, I am loving the great sounds that I am achieving using the Nova System through the effects loop of my Renegade!! It really does sound great without robbing the tone noticeably when set right!

I use the G-System and a Nova Drive with my M4 and I love it.

As for Tone, It really does not get any better. I thought about getting a nova system and a rebel 30 as a rehearsal rig to save my back but that's some serious ching just to save some weight.

oshuwah...I am sure your rig sounds very good as well....

funny you should mention that you considered purchasing a Rebel 30 and Nova System as an alternate light weight set up for some applications. No doubt, shelling out dollars for anything needs to be carefully considered by all prior to purchase.

Anyhow, I recently purchased the Rebel 30 head with 112X cab for a nice sounding, light weight, easily transportable rig to use for some jam sessions, etc. I have used my nova system through the Rebel 30 and feel the Nova System sounds great in the loop of this amp as well for the delays / reverbs that I am after.

In fact, I have also used my Nova System in the effects loop of my MkV with great results without significantly "sucking tone".

While the NS has its limitations, I feel it sounds great for my needs in all of my amps, and is a very good value for what it costs. When set "right" for a particular amp (and it is very adjustable)....it doesn't "suck tone" in the loop compared to other effects units that I have tried in the past. The NS is a good effects box IMO.

Even with the Nova I still have to pedal dance and that is a pain in the rump. I have great boost features built into my amps like on my Shiva that sound great so I use that feature, but like to use the Nova for effects. When I go to a solo I hit the Nova for the delay and verb on my lead patch but also have to stomp on my Shiva's loop.....hence the pedal dance problem.

I haven't figured out how to use the Nova's Boost. Everytime I adjust the Boost's volume up...the unit get quiet. How do you use the boost????

Then again the Shiva's boost has an extra gain stage which is nice!

You can definitely do this. I've done this with a Boss GT-10 hooked up to a Renegade in 4CM. I don't own a Renegade at present, but it's the same thing I do with my Splawn amps. I have individual patches with with whatever FX I need that I run into a basic gain tone on the amp. Then I can goose it with an EQ for lead passages.

Or, better yet, the GT-10 has an amp control jack that I can program into the patches as well that allows me to control channel switching on amps with a 1/4 inch channel switcher. It works for the Splawn, and I think it will work with the Egnater -- it won't cover all the features but it might do 1 or 2 like just channel switching, or just main 2 volume.

This is a great giging set up!
