What are your favorite brand cabs and speaker combos for the genre/multiple genres you play.

I’ve owned and gigged peavey 5150 cabs with stock Sheffield’s, an original 1980’s G12-65 bass cone Marshall cab, two matching Splawn duratex coated 4x12 cabs, and currently rocking 1960AX and 1960BX cabs with stock 25W greenbacks.

I ran Splawn small blocks x V30s in the Splawn cabs. I’m planning on ordering two more Splawn empty matching straight cabs soon and loading them eminence 1275 top EVM12L black labels on bottom. Yes his cabs can take that abuse - he overbuilds his cabs and they sound amazing for metal. They don’t “breathe” well like lighter Marshall’s though. I find the BX and AX limiting for actual cranked volume and lots of low end. The cabs themselves just sonically fall apart.

Greenbacks are hard to beat for aggressive tone once they’re broken in. When they’re stiff they suck IMO.

I’m toying with the idea of a splawn 412 myself. Orange and friedman cabs look great as well. I have nowhere to try anything out before buying which sucks

Friedman are the same as Bogner - all made by the same cab company (don’t remember if it’s B.A.D or not)

I'll try anything well built with good materials/speakers at this point, they all seem to have their own character. I have some 1960 cabs that don't fill the room like my OS cabs, but paired with the right amp, they sound killer. A friend of mine picked up one of the new Peavey cabs, and it sounds pretty badass with his 6505+. I love Scott's cabs too. I have a racing stripe one I ordered, and one that I got local after it must have been in a war zone. It looks beat to heck, but it still sounds killer.

You guys are playing this game wrong. Guy is asking for Cab Porn

Loaded with Redbacks.

I've had several cabs: a Peavey 5150 cab, Marshal 1960A from the JCM900 line, a JCM800 cab with 75s and V30s in an X pattern, a Blue Voodoo stack of cabs, Budda 4x12 and 2x12 cabs, Mega Traditional cab, and a Red Bear cab. Granted, I've had various amps played through each cab so you can't really A/B them, but my favorite by far is my Marshall 1960TV with UK Greenbacks. Nothing else sounds as good as that cab....it's just magical. If I was going to buy any more cabs, I'd just get Mojotone British 4x12s with their Greenback clones, just because I have basically forsaken any other cab/speaker now lol

For metal the Diezel FL with v30s is tight and articulate while full with all frequencies . For rock I like Marshall BV 1960 Vintage with the original v30s . Huge tone

Let’s see, 4x12 cabs. Well, they’re good at laser beaming people’s heads off in the front while no one can hear them in the back. 😂😂

I have

Black Friedman SS with V30s and Greenbacks
Purple Friedman SS with Mamzer 30s
Pink Friedman SS with V30s
Red Friedman JEL with Greenbacks
Snakeskin Soldano with V30s
Randall green alligator with Lynchbacks
Black Friedman SS unloaded, want to get Blackbacks for.

I've had more than my share of pretty awesome.cabs that have been paired with a; Mesa Tremoverb, Hiwatt DR103, Reeves DR504, Peavey 6505+, Matamp GT150, Dr Z Rt. 66, and a Magnatone Panoramic Stereo head.

I've had or currently have; Bogner 412B, Mesa Traditional 4x12, Lopoline Sig 4x12, '72 Hiwatt SE412 loaded with vintage Fanes, Electric Amps Green 4x12, JCM800 1935 Bass with 55hz G12-65's, JCM800 1935 Lead with 75hz G12-65's, Fargen 4x12, and either a Mojo Tone or BAD unbadged copy of a Bogner 412B.

I gotta say the Bogner 412B and the "generic" copy of it are my favorites of all. The large cab, the slanted baffle where all 4 speakers are angled up, and the internal soundpost in a tank of a cab all combine to create an open and less beamy sound. Having all 4 speakers pointed slightly up at the perfect angle for you to stand 10 to 20 ft away and get the real sound of your cab coming at you. I have the generic copy now loaded with two alnico EV SRO12's, and two Fane Medusa 30's. It sounds incredible clean, and evil af dirty. It has crazy punch and grind with high gain or raunchy heavy fuzz.

I have to admit that JCM800 Bass cab is slowly sneaking up on it though. It's a killer sounding cab.

For metal I like the VHT/Fryette Fatbottom, Engl XXL and Bogner Ubercab. I'd probably like also the Mills Afterburner and Mojotone Grand Canyon if I tried one. Curious also about KW cabs. Outside metal I like my Kerry Wright 412

When compared with exactly the same speakers the Diezel FL and Fatbottom I had sounded very similar, but preferred the little extra tightness, punch and brightness of the Fatbottom

For speakers, my all time favorites are Altec 417B's and C's, '60's 20w GB's, all the JBL 120's, Fane Crescendo's, and '50's Roger Charles or Cletron's. I typically much prefer full quads of the same speakers, but for mixes the few I loved were 20w GB's top/JBL D120F's bottom ala VH and Redbacks on top of JBL D120's or E120's

Redbacks are the one non-vintage speakers with a place for me. On their own they can be a bit dark or smooth, but mix it with something opposite like JBL's and it's one of the best sounds you'll get for high gain IME

I also like a lot my vintage G12-65 T3120 version. Very nice speakers as are some other Celestion's in the '70's and '80's, but not top tier imo when directly compared with my all time favorites
