I'm thinking a Bias and an added depth control with a 5751 in one of the preamp spots might be the ticket
The amp already has good tubes, bought it used with Sovtek 6L6GC and JJ across the preamp. Maybe a Tung Sol in V1 and a 5751 in whatever the next spot that affects the overdrive channel is might be a good start and maybe all that's needed.

Actually went with the standard SLO set, Sovteks in the pre and Sovtek 5881 wafer bottoms...Some good info at SLO Clones...
 
Had to use the 50 watt version in the studio once and hit it with an OD in front. Got the job done, wouldn’t be my first choice
 
Has anyone done or know of a mod for the 50H ...that would make it a "3 channel" amp ? Like Clean / Crunch / OD . Wondering if this has been tried yet
