Tell me about the Soldano SLO 30.. Good for more than 80's? Thrash?

Been checking these out. Some say they can be flubby, some say they're tight an aggressive. Of course I'd boost like I do my PT-20, just looking for opinions as a full-blown metal amp. Watched some good videos, but get mixed opinions.

@MetalHeadMike could weigh in.

Don't have the 30, but have the 100. You can do anything with the crunch channel that you can do with a good JCM800.
The od channel takes it up a notch. It's not uber tight and thrashy like a Wizard MC, but it can def sound modern and heavy. I don't find the low end too loose. On it's own yeah, but with an SD1 or eq cutting some lows, it growls with the best of em.

SICK metal amp!!!

The SLO 30 with a boost out front is anything but loose/flubby. IMHO it's killer for thrashy stuff but with a thicker grinding tone. With gain set at 1-2 on the lead ch and a boost, it's thrash heaven. Tight, somewhat dry, and grinding midrange. Or take the gain up to 3-4 and it's significantly saturated/compressed but with PLENTY of clarity...no mush whatsoever. Key to these amps is the presence. I run it at 10 or 11, otherwise it's a bit dark. At that level with treble & midrange to taste, it's the perfect brightness with tons of articulation.

I had seven amps here a few months back, and the SLO30 and a Wizard are all that remain. It's just a flat out killer amp. I had it listed several times but yanked it after plugging back in, and that was next to a Wizard KT150. Not on the same level, but worthy of sharing the same space in it's own right.

I may list the SLO30 again, but that's only because I recently got hit with a huge bill for some home repairs.

Let me know if you do. I think I'm going to buy one.

My SLO30 is my favorite amp of 5 to choose from. Though I don't play metal.

Crunch channel on 11 is great. I never get above 4 / 5 on the overdrive channel, and I love it. It has a good clean channel as well which I enjoy more than my 90's Soldano I used to have.

Sorry I can't help ya on the metal usage...

I play metal and thrash and i owned a couple SLO 100 and ive played the SLO 30 and if you want to use it for thrash i would definately boost it because the lows will be loose unboosted for fast stuff, boosted it can definately do thrash and sound great. I was jamming megadeth holy wars and tornado of souls, older metallica, and older suicidal tendencies songs on the 30 the last time i played it and i liked it alot.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Incredible amp!

Seems like a few of em on Verb for $2400 shipped. I'd get em to sell it off reverb, save some $ for both parties.

I don't know. Owned one for a bit. Crunch channel with a boost was great. I found the OD channel tubby and hard to make work for me. Lent it to a local guy who really wanted to like it and he had the same opinion.

The SLO Synergy module is my favorite of the bunch so far out of the four I have tried. Both channels are killer on that.

Made a clip this morning. OD channel boosted with clean boost, not tightened up. Still, it chugs:

Definitely like the voicing and punch. I'll have an SLO30 tomorrow. I have an SD-1, Zakk Wylde OD, Custom Badass OD, GT-OD, and Fortin TS-9. I'm sure one will do just fine! I'm guessing the cheapest of the bunch, the SD-1 will still reign supreme. It does with my Friedman! 🤣 It's got that grit that pairs so well with big and warm.

Compared to several OD's including a TS9 and Koko, I preferred the SD1 with the SLO30 I had. Especially on the overdrive channel.
