I was banned for years. About a year or maybe more I was let back in but I virtually never go there. The topics and people are lame and sterile. I might have made four posts over the course of a year and they were lame comments because you can't say anything anyway. What's the point. Skirting around the topic. Or just lame topics because they can't have a topic with any relevance.

Also the perm ban was because I argued with a mod for a warning about something that wasn't even worth a warning. They misinterpret things because they are always looking to make an issue out of things. I'm an old man - I don't appreciate being disciplined like I'm a child by some spotty arsed mod.

I just had a look out of curiosity - some bloke asked about a problem with his DE razor and some guy wanted to piss on him because he didn't like the long DE razor thread. I told him that cut throat razors and DE razors are like wine - you have to be grown up to appreciate them lol I hate that place.

A friend of mine gave me one of those new fancy safety razors. I was digging ti but it fell and the cheap pot metal it was made out of gave way and the screw portion busted right off. I just went back to using my wife's disposables.

New Fancy razors mostly suck. If you want a quality modern safety razor it's going to cost a couple hundred bucks. But they are bad ass. You're best bet is a Gillette "New" model from the 30s or a "No Date Code" Gillette Super Speed from the 40s. Both high quality, nickel plated, brass razors that will last hundreds of years and still give a superior shave if not abused.

The last razor I got my wife picked up at a little country store in Caledonia Missouri for $5. It's a 1918 "Old Style" Gillette, which is the very first model King Gillette produced beginning sometime around 1904. You have to manually line up the blade in the razor but it's shaves fantastically.

What about blades though? That’s the important part. I still like those bic sensitive single razor disposables for anyone with sensitive face.

I got one of those from my son, handle clips into a new razor and mount, right? They do look fragile but SFSG.
All he has is a giant goatee, shaves his head and the rest of his face so it’s a razor workout for him and I assume he’s an expert.

It was manscaped "the plow". I liked it and I hated those gay commercials they run so no bias. My floors are concrete so when I dropped it from the bathtub the screw portion that holds the razor/top portion broke off, rendering the whole thing useless. So they are just cheap pot metal. Maybe I'll get another cheap one, I dunno. I just don't get into all the soy boy bathroom goodies. I'm cool shampooing and bathing with ajax if money is tight. I haven't used real shaving cream in two decades....

I prefer conditioning shave lotion for my delicates

The whole reason I started using safety razors is because after having a beard and mustache for 30 years, when it started going grey, or more accurately, when half of it started going grey, I shaved it off. No razor I tried didn't irritate the fuck out of my face and cause ingrown hairs. From the very first time I shaved with a single blade I never had a problem again. Easy 5 shaves out of a blade and even the expensive ones are about $30/100. It's been about 5 years since I bought a razor blade and I probably have enough on hand to go another 5 years at least.

Feathers... they are real sharp. You are better off with the sharpest blade you can find imo. It's the same with any type of blade/knife, if you want to cut something the sharper the better.

Definitely. I'm sitting on probably 250-ish at the moment. It depends on the razor though. I've found Feather Hi-Stainless don't pair well with my 40s SS. Platinums do though. I have about 30 of those left.
