The best reverb and delay pedals on a budget

I'm looking for a new reverb and delay pedal that won't break the bank. I don't really ever use slap back delays so I'm looking for something with a decent amount of time. The reverb I'm after is a difficult find. I've tried out many but they never seem to satisfy me. I used to own a peavey valve king and in all reality to my taste was one of the best reverbs I enjoyed using. It wasn't too much but it didn't act like it wasn't there. Does anybody have any suggestions? I will most likely be going used but don't really feel like spending more than 80-100 bucks. Now if I can get a new unit within that price range I'll most likely go that route.

Carbon Copy & Hall of Fame?
How much delay time is on the carbon copy? And I will have to look up some vids on the hall of fame. And then get to a store that has one to try it out for myself

The Digitech Hardwire pedals - both the verb and the delay - are very cool for the money.

only 600ms on the CC. Main reason I haven't gotten one myself. Used Boss DD-3 is my recommendation. Can be had under $100 regularly.

Still on the hunt for a decent low cost reverb myself, so will be watching this thread. The Livewire reverb is on my radar, but haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I've seen the new Digitech obscure go for about $105 on reverb a few times. It's got most everything I wanted in a delay pedal. I can't offer any opinions on reverb because I rarely use it.

Guyatone MD3, they are cheap small and have a great sound.

Are you looking for a clear, digital delay or one that is (or sounds) analog, with degrading/darker repeats?

On a budget and small=Mooer Re-Echo. Quite nice.
Analog, dark, 600ms with switchable modulation=Carbon Copy. It's really unobtrusive and doesn't clash with your direct tone. Not the best choice for rockabilly slapback, as its too dark for that, IMO.
Digital, clear=Boss DD-3.
Digital, but versatile and analog voiced=TC Alter Ego v2
Digital, but versatile and both analog and clear digital voiced=TC Flashback (Mini).
The full-sized Flasback and Alter Ego have the benefit of a Looper-setting.

Do NOT get a used TC Nova Repeater=sold it within a week; totally uninspiring delay.

Reverb-wise= TC Hall of Fame (mini) for lots of versatile options, Catalinbread Topanga maybe? (more spring/surf reverb).

disclaimer= I do own about 100 pedals, bought & sold boat loads, so I have quite a few test miles.
Still own and like the following delays and reverbs:
Boss DD-3 Digital Delay
Boss DM-2 Delay
Boss FRV-1 Fender '63 Reverb
Boss RE-20 Space Echo
DOD 680 Analog Delay
Ibanez AD9 Analog Delay
Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo
Line 6 Echo Park
MXR Analog Delay (vintage big green thing)
MXR Carbon Copy
Mooer Ana Echo
TC Electronic Alter Ego V2
TC Electronic HOF Mini

When you say dark sounding what do you mean by that? Im not sure if what type of sound im looking for on a delay is a "dark" sound

TC Electronic

* Hall Of Fame - Reverb
* Flashback

Both are reasonably priced, versitile, and sound great!!

What he means is that each subsequent repeat of the original has a little treble shaved off from the previous repeat to match what happens naturally in nature. Gives it a warmer and more natural feel. In nature the bounce back echo has less treble than the original.

Get the Carbon Copy, works great, I have two on my board.

Anybody like the EH Holy Grail?
Sounds like reverb to me

Yes. The Digitech Hardwire DL8 is a great delay pedal. You can get them for as low as 50 bucks.

Really dig my Hardwire DL-8... love the mod setting for my leads. Would love to pick up a 2nd one for a subtle delay effect for my rhythm tone....

The Grail is a great, natural sounding verb IMO. I like the TC HOF mini now, just for how versatile it is. I usually just use one main sound for the most part, but it's real fun to mess around with all the other stuff.

I'd venture to say I'd get a TC flashback for the same reason. Great sounds for the $.

I have the Hardwire DL8 delay and the RV7 reverb also. The RV7 has the Lexicon reverbs in it.Very cool. I also have the Guyatone MD3 as mentioned above, great little delay pedal and smaller than a pack of smokes. Have a Boss DD3 that is decent as well. You should be able to find any on those for well under $100 used.
