I'm looking for the best wah pedal for my Herbert. Since the Wah is a filter effect, I have to try out several wahs with my guitar and amp.
I want a True Bypass Wah to keep the signal raw.
Style: Rock and Metal with Influences of Funk and Mainstream. I'm searching for a Wah that can handle the low end of the Herbert and is soundig good with humbuckers, too. I want a subtle wah, not too screaming. Would be cool if the Pedal would feature some adjustment knobs to finetune the sound when I'm switching from high-output to moderate-output Guitar.
Main Guitar: Ibanez J-Custom REG.
Du you have experiences with silvermachines, RMC or Fulltone? Do you know true bypass wah without potentiometer that can produce vintage AND modern sounds?

Any other recommendations I have to try?
Thx alot, I<üsu

I own an RMC Wizard wah that I use with my Herbert. The true bypass actually is what it claims (unlike a lot of gear which sucks your tone). I can't tell the difference when it's plugged in, and I'm fussy. It's sounds very smooth. The only wah I can compare it to is my old Morley, the difference is huge. The sound qualiuty on the RMC is in a different league it has a wider sweep and much less harshness overall.

Silvermachine fucking rules, but it's not true bypass. They need a buffer to do the switchless thing. However it sound great.

I've always liked the Dunlop 535Q. I have no clue if it's true bypass or anything, though. But, it does have various adjustments.

Thanks for the hints. The Dunlops are not true bypass...
I own a Vox tone-sucking pedal at the moment :)

In my opinion the best wah ever is the Dunlop rack wah. But here in germany it is so damn f***** expensive. So i dont own it. :(

I use a Morley BadHorsie II and a standard crybaby (modded by myself to t.b. and lots of other caps and resistors) for the cleaner whoakachacka sounds. The Morley can´t do this sounds like the "mechanical" crybaby.
So i have 3 diff. wah sounds and i´m happy with them. But i still would like to own a Dunlop Rack Wah.

I have 2 wahs an RMC Wizard and a Budda Bud-Wah.
RMC has a wider sweep which is nice on lead tones (though it tends to be a bit noizy with channels 3 and 4). But for funky rhythms and cleans Budda owns.

Just my opinion.

I have a DIY-true-bypassed Vox 847. I like it. Had Morleys and CryBabies before.

Silvermachine - noiseless switching - built as a brick and has all (and then some) sound possibilities - which can be difficult. This thing is great! :)

Thanks for all the hints - I see now, I have to try a few pedals :)

It's not too hard to adapt whichever wah-pedal to make it a true-bypass.. just takes a 10 euro switch and about 5 minutes of soldering.

I don't have a herbie anymore but i have a Teese Wheels of fire wah that has a "q" knob, oh man you cant mess with the Q knob, yeah baby. it also has a low knob and man can that wah get low. i was selling my roger mayer vision wah and i had to hide my teese WOF wah cause whenever someone would come to try the vision wah they'd try the RMC too and they wouldn't buy the vision wah cause the teese sounded so much better for cheaper too! Had to hide it to sell the vision wah :D

I used to have a Silvermachine, it sounded pretty good, made for high gain applications. If you want to hear a demo of it I used it in a recording of my old metal band with a Bogner Uberschall. Not sure if it's true-bypass or not, I like how it turns on though, just apply pressure. theres a switch if you want to bypass that and toggle it manually, a nice bright blue led too. It's song 3 at about 2:10

I enjoy the Dunlop Rack wah (DCR-1SR, the older version) with my VH4.
Yet, have not come accross anything better than this thing.

How much did you pay for it in Finland?

If I recall correctly I paid EUR 350 + Morley Bad Horsie I. :D
One of the best deals I have ever done (might have been slightly more, but still...).

I think I got a quote of EUR 1100 for the newer DCR-2SR. However I do not see any point why to "upgrade" and especially because I favor the sound of DCR-1SR.

BTW, In case of clarification. Finland prices are 99% same as i.e. German prices. Only if you buy from crappy average places you may get plundered. For almost every product the price I pay from a particular dealer that I strongly support is Thomann prices minus 1 to 10%. Unfortunately the overal price correlation does not apply to cars or motorcycles :aww: .
