Reza, how much does it cost to order a customized JB? I've never bought one, just always had one or two laying around from other guitars I tore apart.

You can swap out the magnet yourself , they're only about $5 and it's an easy mod .

The 1st replacememt pickup I ever bought was a JB in like 86'. The second was an EMG 85 fyi...

I love the JB in my alder charvels. I am looking for other options in the similar vain as the JB ?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the JB in my Ibanez RGA121. The guitar itself is naturally tight (lots of maple), so I don't have a problem with the JB flubbing out at all. I'm all about the tone on Anthems of Rebellion by Arch Enemy, so I got the JB hoping it would get me close. It does. It's a killer pickup for grindy metal with a hint of old-school.

Picked up a '97 Jackson USA JRS1, ash body reverse hs single JB hum. Wound by a JBL, this sounds fat and perfect. Put a newer JB in a 95 Charvel SDIV, koa with pau ferro board and its even better sounding. I really think it varies by guitar, as I pulled a JB from my 08 pro mod. Sounded OK, had a 36th anni in there prior that sounded better.

yep same here, goes great in my san dimas ... have tried them in basswood guitars and generally hate them, although I have just put a single coil sized jb in a basswood strat and it sound really cool

If you like the jb maybe give an Airzone a try...not really like a jb but does sound awesome (fat with loads of bite)

I like the JB quite a bit but in certain guitars, it can be an ice pick factory. I typically go with a Custom Custom which to my ears, is the warmer version of a JB.

Agree with others...in certain guitars, the JB is my favorite pickup. All of my original ESP Mirage's and Horizon's sounded incredible with JB's.

In my Les Pauls, I don't like them at all...I prefer the stock 500T's...equally weird because I generally don't like ceramic pickups. For me, it's always boiled down to the wood and what sounds best to my ears.

big fan here. Have it in many guitars. Love it in my LPC and solid mount in Charvel wildcard 7. Both have ebony boards.

I heard these were smooth ? Not sure if I would like that. I want something pissed off !

I picked up a very early 90’a Epi Sheraton in a pawnshop for $277 because I’d always wanted one of the older ones.

Anyway it came loaded with the SD Jazz in the neck and the JB in the bridge.

The guitar sounds amazing with this set

I let a buddy of mine borrow it and my PRS DGT to record some rhythm and lead tracks on an album.

He said he used SD loaded Sheraton for most the rhythms and 1/2 of the lead tracks.

He said the bridge SD JB sounded AMAZING.

He tracked the guitars through my Mark IIC HRG head

Here’s the picture of the pickup in the bridge.

I recently got a bitchin Soloist, and it came with a JB and a 59. I have always liked the 59, but have never really been a fan of the JB. The soloist has an alder wings on a maple neck through. This time, the guitar and my amp, the Masotti x100m(which rules by the way)have made the JB tolerable. I usually cant stand the JB, but a combo of the guitar and amp make it ok. I will change it out eventually, but I am not in a rush like I usually would be to get rid of a JB. Its amazing that certain combinations of guitars and amps can make such a big change in sound and feel occur in a pickup.
Every guitar I get with a JB, I'm like, "man, it sounds great in this guitar".. Then, a few weeks later, it gets yanked.

JB pickups are ones that everyone else can get to sound great, but I sound like shit.

EMGs are like that too

Come to think of it.... it's that way with everything ☹️
