How great?

My dad won a freakin' RENEGADE 65 HEAD!!!!!!!!

He's also a guitar player, and has been playing a Fender Pro Junior. Now, I think he's gonna annoy the heck out of my mother by CRANKING that Renegade up!

But besides that... the session was awesome. Hearing Bruce talk about his history, his approach to amp making, and his ingenuity was really inspiring. It was pretty incredible to hear the stories behind the invention of the tube-mix knob, and chassis design, etc, etc.

It was also really cool to hear John chime in too, about speaker selection and other stuff. AND to hear some stories about the upcoming Egnater products.

All in all, an awesome night in NYC.

Bruce, you rock! Keep doing what you're doing man. You're well on your way to being the biggest and best name in amps.

That's totally awesome man. Congrats to your dad!!! I wish I could have gone to one of them. I hope they recorded them, and edit it and put it up on Youtube for those of us who don't live near a city he went to.

Rock on Nick's Dad! Winning totally cool stuff, is well totally cool. Didn't have a Renegade on the way in - got one in tow on the way out. Awesome.

As Eric said, hopefully we'll get to see some of these on the web.

+1. Congrats to your dad for winning!

Is Premier Guitar affiliated with GC? I've always had a sneaking suspicion but never really looked into it.

It was a very cool night, I was there too. Congrats to your Dad!

Thanks Bruce, you're awesome! :thumbsup

Highly doubtful, unless they were bought out recently. It was just a group of gear nuts who felt most guitar mags were just a giant commercial of crap. They are pretty grassroots from my impression of the dude at the Egnater Seminar last year.

I'm sad you think they are affiliated with GC :(

Nick, did they bust out the tweaker????Hey that john guy is tall huh!!!! :D What's up John??

Joe Coffey is a hell of a nice guy, really passionate and enthusastic about gear. I like the concept of PremierGuitar. It's lite on the 10-page articles about instrumental afro-jazz virtuosos, and heavy on the gear. A very nice contrast to Guitar Player magazine (which I also love).

Guitar World should change it's name to Dimebag Darrel Monthly, considering that he's on the cover every other month.

Just to keep things straight:
We have a great relationship with Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, Indoor Storm, Boutique Guitars, The Amplounge, Tone Merchants and all of our dedicated dealers. We have no "secret deal" or affiliation with any of them. We make cool gear and the dealers like to sell it because it makes their customers happy...and us too. Joe Coffey from Premier Guitar is a good friend and I asked him if he would like to be the moderator at the NYC Guitar Center Sessions event. He also had his friend, Michael Ross, who lives in NYC play for the amp demo part for us. Neither Premier Guitar nor Joe Coffey have any ties to Guitar Center at all. I'm not sure where these ideas come from but they clearly have no basis in fact.

Bruce: Thanks for clearing that up.

For what it's worth, when I think of the Egnater non-modular line, I think of GC since they are the main stockers/sellers of that line. When I read about Premier Guitar, I think of that video of the Rebel that I used to watch on youtube over and over. I assumed Premier Guitar was Guitar Center's online rag because the first time I saw it was featuring that Rebel amp and I had never heard of Premier Guitar before then. I just figured Premier Guitar was owned by GC and it was their way of featuring new products they were going to sell. I don't visit their site at all (until today) so I didn't know much about them. Sorry for any confusion.

Now, back to putting this thread back on track. Will you be hitting up any more Guitar Centers or is it back to Michigan? Dallas is pretty warm in the winter...

Premier guitar is probably one of the best mags out there for gearheads. It's great to see some guys not regurgitating the same EVH interview/tab for the umpteenth time. Joe Coffey is one of the reasons I bought an Egnater.

Meanwhile...
Did Bruce talk about the Tweaker and or any other upcoming new products? Did anybody sneak a freakin' voice recorder into this thing to capture the Bruce mojo? I'm out here in the northwest, what's the story behind the tube mix knob? Kick down man! Bring on the detail? Jealous as hell that I couldn't be there.

Bruce did indeed talk about some new stuff:

E2: We all know about the E2 - the two space add-on unit that will let you use 2 of the modules with any amp with a series FX loop. John Ewing was talking about it's particular usefulness for nashville session guys and fly-gigs. The can basically request a loud, clean amp with a series FX loop, bring the E2, and have THEIR exact tone. Nice. Word is that it's going to come with a 1-space rack "headshell" that will be black and creme tolex covered like the rest of the Egnater lineup, and also come with a padded carrying case. So you can take it on a plane as your carry on!!!

Tweaker: Same exact size as the Rebel, but different features. No tube mix knob, but I believe it's cathode biased so that you can use any tubes in there. It will come with 6V6 standard (Bruce's favorite tube, I believe he said...). It will have a bunch of switches on it, particularly, a tone-switch to go between Fender, Marshall, and Vox EQs. The price is going to be even less than the rebel - Bruce said they're shooting for somewhere around $400 or less, but don't quote me on that.
Apparently, the reasoning for the black/wheat color scheme is to differentiate it from the rebel if it's onstage.

Armageddon: Bruce also leaked some new info about Egnater's first exclusively "metal" amp, the Armageddon. He didnt' say much about it, other than people have said that Egnater's can't do metal, and this amp is specifically designed to do metal. My guess is that it's going to have even more gain than the tourmaster/renegade, and be heavy as hell sounding.
