Much agreed. Last week I watched a few bootlegs from ‘91-‘92 and stopped on this one because Ed’s just killin’ it, dude’s ready to fly off the stage at any point. If ya start it around 7:30 and just give it a few seconds….

Good stuff minus the scrubs

Ed's Peavey 5150II tones here were pretty stellar as well, I'm sorry you have to listen to Gary to hear the amp tone.......
That being said Ed's SLO tone blew the 5150's out of the water.

Is this the only time we know of Ed using the Soldano in a live setting? I’m not keen to the details of his gear his entire career and just assumed this was an in-between period between the Marshalls and the 5150 coming out-

According to most of the internet scuttlebutt Ed used the SLO for most of the FUCK album.

Eddie Van Halen used his SLO-100 most notably on the vast majority of For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. He also used his old Marshall (although repaired) and a prototype Peavey 5150 on the album, but for the most part, it was the Soldano sound that made up most of those songs on that album.

Yeah, I know about the album speculation, that’s why I asked “…in a live setting?” 😉

If he had the 5150 prototype in the studio for FUCK then he probably used the 5150's on tour so the Cabo Wabo video might be the only live recording of Ed playing the SLO live.

I like his Michael Meyers meets MC hammer suit.
91-92 was a great time. Glam/rock metal and Grunge was blending well. Depeche Mode and Milli Vanili was out.
End of First Kuwait war. I was 22. People didn’t seem so angry in our country.
Then… “something” woke up. 🫤. I guess this is no world for old men like me.
Enter that meme (THE WORLD IS FUCKED, I JUST WANNA PLAY GUITAR)

According to the Guitar World interview that he gave during this time, the SLO was slaved into the Marshall and then out the cabs. The 5150 prototype showed up as they were tracking leads for the album. Judgement Day was the first tract cut and last track that the Kramer 5150 guitar appeared on. Of course, Ed is notorious for misinformation regarding his setup...lol!

Seen that video.. How cool to have a concert in your town square..

Plenty of people have reported seeing an SLO or two in Ed's backstage rig on the FUCK tour, though the 5150s were prominently displayed on the stage. I was talking with one of Mike's guys at NAMM long ago who also told me that. So the SLO was in his live rig for some, if not all, of that tour.
