It's been out a little while now. How does it stack up? I see a lot if guys flipping them already. Even if it's awesome i know all to well that the Boogie Mk Series is unique and not for everyone so the amp flipping really doesn't surprise me. That aside... Does it deliver?

My gut instinct tells me that Mesa has hit a homerun with this amplifier, if there were much difference from the originals, all we would be hearing is how much it sucked…
The only thing I have heard from guys that have a/b'd them is that the original is a touch sweeter, I also hear this in the clips, there is something just a little special about the original… Although maybe my brain is playing tricks… but then I read that someone was smart enough to swap the tubes, from the original to the JP2C then they said it was very, VERY close!
Now, I have absolutely no experience at all with either amplifier AND 'I have no dog in the race' - this is just my philosophy brain at work, LOL
Some of these guys that've played both side-by-side will have lots to say and much more wisdom than me… I would also like to know…

Flippers will flip regardless. The guy who flips one tomorrow will buy it again 6 months later so I don't put much stock in all that nonsense. I don't own one but I think it is a great amp. I want to get one and will. I think it is a win for Mesa and a fresh twist on a golden era amp for them.

I have a Mark IIC+ HRG, which is the model the JP2C is based and have gotten to AB them. The JP2C definitely sounds terrific and I think blows away any of their other currently made amps. I'd say it sounds 85-90% as good as my HRG, which is VERY impressive imo. The original just sounds a little more raw and organic, bigger bottom end, it also has a sharper (sometimes piercing depending how it's dialed in) treble compared to the JP2C. Channel 2 of the JP2C also has a bit more of a upper mid presence compared to the original, while channel 3 is a little darker and more compressed, well suited for leads and single not type riffage. I also found the cleans on the original to be just a little more 3D and rich sounding (basically same differences as I found on the drive channels), but again the cleans on the JP2C were fantastic and also don't break up even with the gain turned up super high.

Obviously the JP2C kills the original feature wise, and the reverb is 1000x better on the JP2C (the original's reverb is useless) and the shred control is godsend! It does exactly what I wanted out of all the overdrive and boost pedals I've tried. It would be amazing if Mesa released a pedal that does what the shred toggle does. I'd be willing to pay a lot for that since it's so perfect at what it does!

Overall, I prefer my original, but I'd buy the JP2C if I found a very good used deal on it. It would be a great option since it's replaceable unlike the original. I'm guessing maybe the components they had back then could be why it sounds a bit more raw and rich. And mine also doesn't have the original tubes or caps, just in case someone says that's why it's better

I think they sound really great. If I didn't already have a Mark IV and love it so much I would definitely be interested.

I think its killer if that matters, haha.....

I have owned Mark III, IV and V .....I now own a JP2C and out of the amps mentioned I like the JP2C the most. Ive never played a original IIC+ to give a fair comparison . To be honest I dont even care if it sounds like a IIC+ or not , all I know is it sounds and feels very good. Having also owned a lot of versions of the rectifier series amps along with the mark series amps the JP2C has probably been the best sounding Mesa to my ears.....I had a rev F triple recto that was pretty awesome sounding but the JP2C is overall a better amp.

What I dig most about it is it has that familar mark series voicing but also has the balls and big lowend almost like a recto. However Its in no way loose or fizzy like how a recto can be.

So bottom line.... It's a killer amp?
Absolutely! I also agree with the others that I'd take it over the mark iii and v, but I haven't tried a mark iv in a long time, so I'd wanna try one again before commenting on that, but I remember also really loving the mark iv. For my situation it's not worth getting one though unless I find one cheap used because the original is still better, but the JP2C is still awesome

In short, having owned a JP2C along side with two Mark 2C++'s, the JP2C is a great amp. Tons of options and sounds like a Mark series amp. I thought channel 2 sounded closest to the original 2C+ sound...but it was around 90% there. People that buy them should not consider them to be a copy of a 2C+, but more of an extension of the original. If I were in a gigging band, I would have kept it. I passed mine onto someone here for a great price.

I tried it at one of the local shops who had one which pleasantly surprised me. It is one of the nicest sounding Mesa amps. The feature set on it is outstanding. I don't think there is much more one could ask for. I have to try it again. At this point, I'm really happy with the sound from my amp but if I was in the market, it would get some serious consideration. Will definitely plug into it again shortly. The EQ on these amps is really dynamic!

I have had mine for about a month. For me it is very easy to dial in tones I like. I took 3 minutes on the first time I fired it up to get what I want for all 3 channels. Now I just have to get a solution for effects and midi switching. I am happy with my purchase and have played a 2c+. I think the features of the Jp-2c and the tone make it a great amp.

It's a great amp, it took me a bit of time to dial it in as I usually don't run the presence up too high on any of my amps that have a presence knob. I took a couple cues from how JP sets his channels in the Mesa videos on youtube and that helped a lot. I have a couple items for sale as I have a custom guitar on the way - if they sell...I'll keep the JP

+1. I've owned a couple of Mark IIc+ and they're one of us favorite amps ever made. I've also owned quite a few Mark III and mark IV, and I like them as well. Except R2 channel. I hate that channel. I also thought the 2nd channel sounds more like an original, more open and less compresse. But I love that the two channels are different. There was a lot of differences in the various 2C+ and since it's been a couple years since I've had an original, I plugged into my JP-2C and was damn happy with what I heard and felt from my memory playing my old 2c+ I also think you can pick up a few percentage points closer to the original by changing out the preamp tubes. JJ tubes aren't good in a 2C+ and aren't right for this amp either. I played mine in band practice tonight and even on channel 2 with the gain at 9:00 it's still sings like crazy. Is it an original killer? Hell no. Is it an amazing amp that suits a gigging musician better than any Mark series amp made yet and gets some awesome 2c+ sounds? Damn straight.

IMO, its one of the best sounding amps out there, 95% to the original, but with all the added features and the extra channel, plus being reasonably priced compared to the original 2C+, totally worth getting one.

I haven't gotten to play one yet, but I did hear a local band with one and it sounded fantastic in a live setting. I need to check one out for sure.

It is totally great amp and sounds remarkably similar to the master, the Mark llC+. I have posted a few YouTube videos comparing my vintage amp and the new JP2C. I have very nice old stock tubes in my old amp and the original tubes in the JP2C which could make for the difference in sound. This is a much nicer amp than the Mark V, Mark III or Mark lV.

Is the JP2C going to be limited in production or is the thought that its a regular production model?
