The price of used gear

So has the gouging that’s going on with used gear prompting you to go ahead and buy new? Seems hardly worth buying used when you can get new gear with a warranty for not much more.

I’d like to pick up a Friedman SB50 or WW50 used... seems the used price is closing into the new price...

Prompted me to seriously think about selling quite a bit of stuff more than think about more buying. My iic+ lives in fear I’m finally going to cash out while the getting is good.

Gear sells, who's buying?

If it's just overpriced junk, it won't sell anyway. We've all seen this crap on CL, eBay & Reverb, way overpriced gear that will never sell in the person's lifetime. It will always be there, it is what it is, junk no one wants at any price.

In the last month I've sold a power amp, eBay $1,550.00, ( had it here for $1,250) two Taylor acoustics (had 'em here) & an electric on CL for my asking price. Gear does sell, price and quality is what they're buying.

Another plus is if it's normal, generic looking and trusted gear. Custom (ugly ass) stuff will only be attractive to certain people and will take some focused marketing.

As I’ve said in every daily thread complaining about prices I’m not sure what you are all talking about because there are deals to be had everywhere, I even posted my Craigslist a few days ago which everyone agreed there was all sorts of deals on desirable stuff. I actually stopped looking at Craigslist and Facebook cause there’s so much tempting shit I don’t need.

Well you also just said Poison is the best 80's band so I don't know how I feel about our relationship anymore

Definitely buying more new gear now. Hunting for good deals on used gear just doesn't hold the same appeal in this market

The price and availability of new gear is part of the equation. Some new gear can't be had right now. I've been looking for a Behringer XR18 mixer for an IEM rig, and I just can't seem to find one. Used ones are getting snatched up at practically new prices. That's Behringer crap. When did Behringer get that kind of resale value?! It's Behringer!
