Hey all,

Anyone have a favorite wah or are you still searching through the hellish list of wahs on the market?

I had a Dunlop 95Q optical wah so there was no need to turn off/on although it got on my nerves because you couldn't hold it in a sweet spot since it was auto activated and sometimes you would accidentally shut it off on the low end of the sweep. I do miss the Cry Baby sweep though so I am considering the Classic or Zakk wah.

Then came the Teese Wizard but I found the lows muddy and the sweep too narrow. I couldn't get used to it. Then came the Budda which I like but there is something again about thissweep I can't get used to and the lows aren't deep enough. Man, does it ever end.

Let me know if you all have found what you love in wahs. I am still searching.

I love my Dimebag Crybaby from Hell. I moved from the 95Q optical wah to that. It's friggin amazing. Best Wah i've played ever :). Love that its built like a tank, has the 6-way selector switch, and gain / tone knobs on the side. That and it has LEDs to let you know if its on or off, and if the boost is on or off. Such a great Wah for both recording and live situation. Best Wah in my opinion for a live situation, as its uber rugged, sounds amazing, super versatile, and has LEDs to let you know if you accidentally left it on or not ;).

rmc wizard wah.. hands down.. the only wah that got me to sell my dunlop rack wah.

The Wizard was nice but I found the sweep or throw (assuming that is the sweep) was a bit odd...too focused or something and the lows didn't seem as clear to me compared to the Budda. I miss the feel of the CryBabys though. One problem with the Wizard and Budda is they ned more of a volume boost for leads! I found a guy who does killer wah mods to solve this though.

The Wylde Wah and Dimebag Wah both look nice but not sure I like the sound of the Dime having the bigger sweep, extended highs and lows......I like it a bit tighter than that. The Wylde sounds nice because they say it is thick and throaty but it needs to still be good for clean. Too much to ask I guess.

Yeah man....but that's what the Q knob and the "sweep" knob is for. I can get a normal "crybaby" sound...but also have the other tones in there too. Fasel inductors too!!! Love them :).

I agree a Q and volume knob can be essential. I may check it out, thanks. I hate the color! I'd have to paint it. ;) I wonder if the Zack Wah has one - I'll have to check. Have you checked out the Budda or Clyde?

I think Dunlop nailed it with the Crybaby Classic.

I sold my Dunlop 535Q to get a boutique wah, and didnt like it. I really missed the Dunlop Sound.

1. It has the signature Crybaby Sweep. (it goes waaaaah. Not wwwwuuuuuuaaaaaaaaggggghhhhhh. Its a good filter sweep, not "pukey" like some boutique vox clones.)

2. True Bypass (No LED and DPDT switch)

3. Fasel Inductor

4, Under $100

I have 2. Love em.

ya, i put a 3pdt with led in my rmc wizard, and swapped out the rmc pot for a red fasel, sounds killer.

+1

I have a 535Q that I modded with a 3PDT switch for "true" true-bypass and also added an LED, so I can tell if its on at a glance.

???

A pot is a different thang than a inductor.
Red Fasel = inductor, not a pot.

Red Fasel = inductor, not a pot.

that was a typo.. i swapped the rmc inductor for a red fasel inductor.. still using the rmc pot.

I’d like to induct some pot…

Wait that was a typo, I meant ignite.

mmm... Red Fasel

That Red Fasel is some strooooong stuff. Is it better or worse than Acapulco Gold?

I like the Budda wah. Sounds good to me both clean and with lots of gain.

My favorite two wahs are either the Fulltone CLYDE or the Budda BudWah, which one I use depends on the rig. I also found that the BudWah is okay at home, but in a band context it really cuts through. The sweep and tone on the Fulltone is what probably puts it #1 on my list.

I am going to compare some wahs to my Budda. I am thinking either the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe or Crybaby from hell! Eric, is the 'From Hell' true bypass? Does your model have the new Fine tune? Is it noisey? THANKS! I wish the Clyde wasn't so expensive!

The plain Crybaby Classic looks interesting and I love the Crybaby sound and sweep but hate that it is not true bypass and can add noise! Did you say the Classic is true bypass? I didn't see that in the literature on the wah. Is it loud enough? Some wahs have a natural boost to cut the mix and some do not which is a pain because you have to have it modded for more volume or a volume boost. I thought of doing that with my Budda. Anyone know if the Clyde Standard has a built in volume boost?

One weird thing with the Budda is that it does more of a Wow thing rather than a Wah thing.

On the Fulltone, I have a hard time spending $300 for the Deluxe but the Standard looks good since I see the used white ones on ebay for around $100.

Some of my favorite old school wah is Hendrix and new wah tones are Jerry Cantrell and guys like Dean Deleo of STP, Carl Bell, Lifeson, Navaro, etc. Maybe a little Kirk Hammet for good measure.

This has been a hot topic over at TGP quite a few times.

Bypass-wise, It's just like the Budda Wah. On/Off. NO LED. And it has a Double Pole, Double Throw, 6-Pin switch. So it's 100% True Bypass.

And i've NEVER had a volume issue with mine.

Don't know if the Crybaby from Hell is "true bypass" or not. Honestly its so unnoticable and built like a brick shithouse that if it wasn't I wouldn't care!
