There's a dude somewhat close selling a Marshall

In the title, he claims it's a 2204 50 watt, but there are obviously 4 power tubes. Also, the low input seems to have been changed over to something besides an input jack. Also, I would've thought they'd been using their typical green PCB on this 1990 head.

You Marshall guys, take a look and see what you think.

Looks like a 2203 with a switchable diode boost or something like that, I can't exactly tell

how much?

if it's a good deal, probably worth checking out.

if they are charging "mint" prices? Run.

He wants $1500, but there are a couple inconsistencies in his listing, and doesn't even mention the aftermarket pcb and switch.

Right, the fact that they didn't disclose its a mojo board drop in or whatever makes me think it's either a low price or sketchy as fuck

Sounds like he doesn't really know what he has. Or he knows exactly what he has - hence the $1500 price tag.

It looks like Marshall iron from the era and as stated, replacement turret board. If I could demo it and it sounded great and didn’t red plate, I would consider it but offer closer to 1K than 1500. If you’re handy you can rework the board as necessary regarding any funky soldering or circuit tweaks etc but you could certainly factor in 150-300 for a tech to go through it and redo anything. But the Transformers are the heart and soul of the amp and with those in place, you have great bones to work with. It all may start with does it sound great as it is?

Also I doubt it’s a 1990. 2203’s were horizontal input after 1983. Is the last letter of the serial an “M”? That would make it 1980 but JCM’s didn’t hit the street until 1981.

I probably wouldn't do 1500 for it :dunno:

Maybe a grand? And then, only if I wanted to modify it myself or something
This.

With original transformers, HS/Chassis it's definitely worth something, but not legit Marshall value. 1K...maybe....then I'd consider sending it out for a mod since it's now a great mod platform with the PTP wiring.
But, it may be an amazeballs sounding amp the way it is...and with a boost pedal.

Yeah, the pcb has been replaced, but it looks like a quality job.
I think the switch in the low input hole is a "structure" switch , adding a cap over the 10k cold clipper for a gain boost.
If it has the OG iron, it's worth checking out, but you'd have to play it to see what's up.
Agree that it's not worth "Marshall" $$, but it's certainly not a disaster.
If you had some tech skills, I'd be all over this as a mod platform if the price was right.
