Just my .02 regarding the Mode Mod........

You can get pretty much the same effect without a mod by investing a few dollars in a good volume pot for your guitar that has a long, even taper. :D

The Diezels react incredibly well to volume adjustments from your guitar.

I've been thinking about the 3 modes, and The Mode Mod. If you're on Mode 3, could you more or less get to the Mode 2 sound just by reducing your guitar's volume a tad? And then continue on down to the equavalent clean sound of Mode 1?

That's the only way a Mode Mod would be redundant, in my mind. Otherwise, during gigs, if you use Mode 3 for your distortion, how do you get a clean sound? Walk over to the amp and manually switch to Mode 1?

Similarly, on the Lead channel, is it possible to reduce the volume on your guitar to get to the Mode 3 sound?

I thought Ch2 was voiced differently to Ch1?

Good choice. I've got a Herbert rig that covers all bases out
of the box.

It really still baffles me and ceases to amaze me that anyone would change mechanically anything regarding Peter's amps. Peter is one if not the best and most innovative, creative and knowledgeable amp builder/amp designer in the world.

Do yourself a big favor when you get your Diezel and learn it's endless flexibilities over months of exhausted experimentation before hacking it up. It's a jewel as is!

He's got a herbert that is midi-switchable, so he probably doesn't need to mod his Diezel for the same purposes that you are asking about. Sure these amps are absolutely amazing, but its not like you are doing anything to change the amp's texture/sound, ya know?

Just do the mod man, this amp is going to be an extension of you're playing. Yeah, Peter's an amazing guy, but just because he didn't make the modes on the Einstein switchable doesn't mean you shouldn't do it or that there is some secret reason for doing this. Sorry "King Krimson," I didn't mean to point you out man! Much love!

The Einstein has its own sound, WHY NOT mod it to take advantage of these tonal possibilities? Otherwise, you're GOING to be somewhat limited during live shows...I had the mod done and I couldn't do live shows without it!

Just my 2 cents! Hope this helped!

Also, I can control these modes/channels/masters with my GCX. When I'm not using my rack, I just use the Diezel footswitch for the Channels/Masters, and a separate footswitch for the modes

So the speaker jacks can be used as switching jacks once the mod is done?

Yes, sort of! I use two "1/4 split into two 1/4" (Y-split) cables for the two jacks on the amp that I use (read on). My cables are only a foot or so long, and I tried to Google them for you, but only came up with this: http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=330237 It's the right cable, its just 20 feet long!

I used one in of the 4ohm jacks as a switching jack for the mode-switching mod. I just plug another jack into the factory channel/master jack on the back. I'll use the channel/master jack as an example: Out of the channel/master jack, the Y cable will split and should be put in two GCX loops. Same goes for the jack you decide to use for the mode-switching mod! You will be using a total of 4 loops in the GCX and just switch from there! Simple as that.

Hope that helps!
