thinking about another Mod 50?!

Ebtech? Regardless, these is no other product on the market that will do what the Loop Gadget will do - especially for the money. Bruce should market these suckers a little better - he has a great little product there. It basically allows you to interface ANY amp with ANY effects. It's brilliant!

From what I can remember with the Mesa ED - really liked both channels. Like most anything, you had to get some volume on the
gain channel to get the goods. I haven't spent enough time with a Shiva and have never seen a PWE in person to see if the ED's
ground could be covered through these amps, but it seems like you could get close.

The big plus about the Mod 50 is how great it sounds at both low and high volumes. I like the idea of the modded modules, too. I loved
my SL module, but never could get that top end chime and bite that a real Super Lead inherently gets. Close, though. I'm sure a few component
changes could get closer.

I'd really like to see like a Mod 20/30 combo with one module slot. Enough power for home or gigs and really portable. I know Randall makes one, but
I'd want the Egnater. Throw in a BMan and a pedal or a EG5 and roll it back for clean...

Goodness guys, this is funny....I mentioned to a guy that I decided to get another Mod 50 instead of an Electradyne and he commented that Egnater amps are good entry level, beginner's amps but that is it. LOL, talk about clueless and arrogant. The Mod 50 is high end American made goodness. Period!

I use the EB Tech line level shifter with my Mod 50, and it works/sounds great, and they can be picked up for low $$$. I can't see why anyone would
let go of their Mod 50, this is easily the best amp I have every owned, and I have owned some great amps. They are only as complex as you make them.
Pick a couple of modules for the type of sound your looking for and  .

Oh, and these are the cabinets I will be using:
Bogner 212OS with Hellatone 60s (Celestion V30s)
Stone Age 212C with WGS Invaders
THD 212 with WGS Vet30/ET65 or Retro30/ET65 or maybe some Reaper 50s. :)

The thing that has me worried is the lack of Egnater dual modules I see for sale. I guess I could use the Randall modules and that is fine because I actually prefer simplicity these days. All I need is a switch on the module to adjust gain or a gain pot that is sensitive enough to give me what I need. And if the guitar volume responds well, that is a bonus.

All I need is a clean with a switch to maybe change the structure, maybe enough gain to get gritty clean and a gain module or two with sensitive gain pots and maybe a switch or two. Keep it simple and less expensive. I would most likely just go with Randall modules, fully modded by Jaded Faith.
Probably the VOXLESS and RVERB to start.

I used to own a loop gadget devise by some company I can't recall but I hated it so with my Mod 50, I just used a line level Damage Control Glass Nexus and worked much better.

I've not tried it, but have seen mention somewhere of the Pigtronix Keymaster as an option for the loop level issue.

I'd probably try that if I used anything beyond a TC delay pedal with adjustable levels in the loop.

Although, after doing a search on ebay, the Ebtech is considerably cheaper. Unless that's what you had and didn't like.

Hmmm... may have to pick up an Ebtech thingo, just in case I want to put something else in the loop.

When I sold my Egnater Mod 50...I realized what a trade off it is. The power section on those amps tries to wear many hats so I found it lacked the punch and muscularity of my VHT Pitbull, and then sold it. Since then I have bought a 20th Anniversary Bogner Shiva with EL34s which also does not have a ton of punch but sounds and feels amazing. I also bought a PWE Event Horizon which is like the best Marshall I have ever played, this amp has mucho balls, punch and muscle! Very wide and massive sounding.

With buying an Electradyne I was thinking I would get another huge sounding Marshall style amp with huge lows.......but in reality the Eggie offers me so much more now.

You should buy Bruce's original MOD100; it's on ebay now. That would likely have more punch than the 50.

My days of carrying a 65 - 70 lb head are OVER! LOL. Plus, I have no need for three modules at once. I like to keep things simple! :)

I sold my Egnater TM212, I hated that cab. When I got my Bogner 212OS and Stone Age 212C, I realized what I was missing!

I too loved my MTS amps.
Had 5 of them!
Mod 100....Mod 50...2 Lynch Boxes and a modded RM100.
All the custom modules got to be Crazy. Rob does killer work.

That one is not in great shape, missing rear panel and no footswitch. I already secured one for $1100 shipped in mint condition. I plan to have about 4-5 modules around at any one time, not more than that. I can afford anything I want in the amp world but I am choosing to go back to the Mod 50! :)
It is either modules or owning tons of amps and I don't want to have tons of amps around. Having 4 high end amps is good enough, one of which will be the Mod 50.

What didn't you like about it? I have mine loaded with a M75 and H75 Scumback and I really like it a lot.

I think you'd really like the Jaded Faith XTC; it's my favorite module now and can cover everything from clean to screaming solos. Though we don't agree on much, I seem to remember your taste for the eggy modules were pretty much the same as mine back when you had your MOD50. You would dig the JF XTC.

I'm a huge fan of the Randall RM50. It's the original Egnater single channel design with reverb. The boards inside all say Egnater. I'm also a big fan of Rob..jaded faith's work. His newer Marshall mod is just killer. RM50's used can be had for under $500...

I have an egnater mod50 for sale w/ 3 mods as well- bassman mod, tsl2 mod, and the eg3/4 mod.. Perfect condition, it stays in the control room of my studio... $1700.00

Rod, are you sure all RM50s are made by Egnater?

After much debate, it just makes a lot of sense to get another Mod 50. I hate owning amps that need lots of volume to sound good, the Mesa Electradyne is like that. My PWE and Bogner both sound utterly fantastic at home or stage. That is also true of the Mod 50.

Two complaints I had were the effects loop and the similarity in tones. The effects loop issue is easily resolved by using something like a Line 6 M9 but I love my little analog effects so I would prefer to find the right loop level gadget.
Second issue was the tone. Too many modules sounded too similar to me. Many of the modules I could get sounding almost identical. They all had some signature similarities, like it or not. Part of this is due to the power section and the fact that you essentially have the same people behind each module's design unless you go custom module. The amp still has its distinct power section that comes through in the feel and tone.

It is a compromise, but I just can't go the test of my life buying amp after amp. Buying modules or having my friend Rob build me custom modules is more sensible.
