So it has EL34's in it now and I believe they are the originals from the Diezel house :)
I think its time for a new set anyway so I am trying to decide if I should go with EL34's again or if I should try out the 6L6's
I play TOOL mainly all the time and I have heard from Peter S. in another post that Adam uses 6L6's.
So I may go that route...
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 sets?

And after all that is answered I need some info on replacing them.
I am a Service tech on 3D printers so I want to do this myself (properly so I don't kill myself)

Thanks all,
Jon

Google VH4 biasing and some great instructions will pop up. Very easy to do. Just remember to flip the appropriate switch if you change from EL34s to 6L6s.

I believe Peter Stapfer had a look at Adam Jones' rig and said there were 6L6 tubes in there. Of course, his rig is very different from yours on several levels.

Actually I am not that far off from his rig, Marshall isn't there, 2nd VH4 isn't ether, but I have everything else. The Herbert is dialed in close to my VH4 as well.

I not what your saying about do my own thing, but I really dig his tone and I am a tone chaser, its part of the hobby for me.

I am not ready to change tubes yet, but once I do I might as well try 6L6's to try something different.

Thanks guys

It's all good, Braddah... But seriously, if you wanna hear some CRAZYASS wicked tone, throw in a quad of matched 6550s and I think you'll be very very impressed.

Glad to know you're rockin' the Jonez Tonez. Can't blame ya for loving his steez.

I forgot to mention that my "love" for 6550s isn't approved of by the Master Himself... Apologies Herr Diezel...apologies :scared:

I'll be a good Uncle henceforth.... I'm "moving along", nothing to see here....

You guys are silly :loco:
I am gonna hold off on changing the tubes in the VH4 until I get a second that may already have different tubes
Peter I maybe coming out to Germany in the spring, could you make me a blue face to pickup? :D

My wife has been to Germany but I have not, if we do come out I will let you know :D

Do you think its possible to make a blue face by next 2013 April?
I think we are coming out around that time.

To be honest. If we want to get the same dark blue colour
we have to order two big pieces from the aluminum industrie.
That means about 140 sets of face and rear plates. No big deal but not
enough orders at the moment.
