To be honest. If we want to get the same dark blue colour
we have to order two big pieces from the aluminum industrie.
That means about 140 sets of face and rear plates. No big deal but not
enough orders at the moment.

I will take 140 sets

I take this an an order

+ 1 more here = 2
oh forgot uncle mo = 3

How does one get Uncle status? Does one have to become cousin first? :hys:

I not what your saying about do my own thing, but I really dig his tone and I am a tone chaser, its part of the hobby for me.
Hey jonl! Before worrying about the tubes too much you should try combining a front and rear loaded cab for phase-cancellation which should get you closer to what's going on in adam's rig than anything else. But be wary, you do NOT want to do this in a band with more than one guitar because you will just drown. Adam's tone is a whole chain of things from his fingers all the way through the two amps in his live rig; the second vh4 is just a backup.

And most importantly the band gives him enough space in the mix, that's where Tool really, really shines as well - they let you hear all four musicians and are pretty much mixing themselves.

Could you please explain this phase cancellation to me in detail? I really want to know what this will do for me. Also Adam doesn't use front loaded cabs at all, even the marshall cab is rear loaded right?
Last, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure he runs both VH4's rather than having one for backup.

phase cancellation: google it - seriously, there are excellent explanations and even videos on utube, muchmuch better than I could ever explain it! Basically you have the same signal twice but slightly shifted so they end up cutting into each other. This is something you always have to be wary of when mixing gear, different amps, cabs and speakers.

Adam's live rig has two different amps with two different cabs and speakers - you can do something similar with one amp and two different cabs, fl+rl. Or get a modded Marshall SuperBass along with your vh4 ;)

I always thought his live rig has pretty much consistently been described as the Marshall and the Diezel, two amps running, not three..? Do you have a source that says all three are active and in the live mix?

I don't know for sure if he used all 3, but you can see that its running and has power in videos.
Also he use to run the marshall, a mesa rec, and the vh4 all together.
I don't see him downsizing to 2 heads if he was running 3.
Also at one time he was running a 2x15 bass cab with the silverface then changed it back to 4x12.
I have seen a video of them jamming in a studio of some sort and he had both VH4's as well.
I wouldn't think he would have the silver one set up in studio for backup just in case you know what I mean?

Also If I had 2 VH4's I would run both all the time too :D

ohhhhhhhhh....i see the 6550 has reared its head again....and it wasnt even me..thanks Mo!!! im still loving my 6550s in the VH4...sorry Papa.

Also, who knows if Adam uses 6L6 or EL34?
Thanks,
Jon

I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that Adam's VH4 uses EL34's. I acquired one of his stage amps from Salwender that was being repaired for him and they ended up giving him a new one and selling the repaired one. Peter confirmed that the amp was Adam's because it is actually signed by Peter to Adam on the back grill. It was and is loaded with Ruby EL34's. EL34 definitely...
