Some of you know the story but anyways was thinking about flipping my recently acquired AXEFXIII. I plugged it in and it works and sounds fine but I just kept looking over at my recent Monomyth Marshall and though "yah I'm really just a tube guy" so....Anyways I wanted to give a heads up to see if anyone was interested and to avoid any weirdness from the previous transaction. I'll try local first then try to post here in the classifieds.

Use it as your main hub and effects processor. And when/if you need the modeling, interface and ins and outs, you ll have it.

That is what i do. I use it as a stereo processor running a wet dry wet rig. It works like a charm. I also control my while rack via its midi capabilities.

And sometimes i plug it in a stereo power amp and run 2 cabs with the modeling and while not like my tube amps, it works quite well.

Run it in the Monomyth via the 4CM. Have all of the pre and post effects that you could want and have patches where you can use the AXE 3 amp sims with just the Monomyth power section which gives you another 299 amp sims at your disposal for variation. I run my AXE 3 this way with my Friedman heads and I get the best of both worlds and do not feel like an amp or processor is just sitting collecting dust. I run my heads with a Boss WAZA TAE and the AXE 3 so I can run my 100 watt tube heads thru headphones utilizing the cabinet sims. Kill many birds with 1 stone with this setup.

Give it time to settle and figure if it works into your needs. It’s easy to not be totally stoked on a modeler compared to a great amp. There’s a learning curve. The Axe III is great, doesn’t replace a tube amp in all situations by any means, but awesome tool to have around and scratch new GAS itches or ideas.

I use both tube amp and axe for best of both worlds …. Guitar to Lehle ABY to A)axe/fx wet B)Caswell/SLO (dry). Y) Solo boost-to the 3rd preamp/Fryette/lexicon. Each to a separate cab and it’s immense. I would keep it if I were you. But then again I don’t sell much.

Play whatever inspires you. So many ways to get great tones these days.
I'm the same when it comes to tube amps.

Well I posted it and it was gone within a few hours. I'll wait for the Axe FX IV or V or whatever the new hotness is cuz it'll be "so much better than the old version" while I rage thru all my tube heads ;)

Use it as an effects unit only, no sense in wasting a powerful effects processor that could be used with your real amp.

I had one for a year and it made me want to buy a Herbert. Once I got the Herbert, I realized tube amps is where I am most comfortable. Sold the AxeFX3.

I’ve mentioned this before. The kid came to buy the AxeFX3 and played, loved it. Gave me the money. I asked if he wanted to play the Herbert. He plugged in and was like, “holy shit”. Thought I lost the sale 😂

This may or may not help your decision but I found the EVH 50w model on the AxeIII through a tube power amp like the KSR PSA for example sounds great. Very very close to an EVH head if you like the 5150 type sound. Out of any amp model in the axe that one excels for a high gain modern tone in the realm of Monomyth. I’ve had two of Sheas mods so far. The Monomyth sound is different yes , especially being a Marshall platform. I like both though for different reasons. The Cameron amp models do a very good modded Marshall type tone. You might get closer to the Monomyth sound with those .
