None of the above.
Seriously for that money way better options out there for metal… minus the KSR can’t speak to it haven’t owned or played one yet. Engls have this weird digital like sound I can’t stand. And that Revv is trying to do way too much shit and doesn’t excel at any one thing and is one over costly piece of mediocrity… It’s like if I wanted a chipotle burrito and went to a food place that had that style, burgers, Italian food, and other options. Sure it might be okay, but I probably would’ve been better off going to the place that sells only burritos.

I own a KSR Artemis II which is the rack version of the colossus. I would take it in a heartbeat over the Engl and Rev which are both really good amps for sure. Can’t say enough good things about the Artemis/Colossus.

I've heard it's like a boosted Recto, which I'm not sure is really what I'm looking for. What do you think?

I can’t say if it’s like a boosted recto, been so long since I’ve tried that. With the channels and modes on each channel there’sa variety of good metal tones in it. I actually like one of the lesser gain modes hit with a Mjolnir pedal.

Half the bands you listed up there use a boosted 5150 into a Mesa cab with v30s. If you’re going for that I’d just get a 100w EVH stealth, OD808, Mesa cab, and fortin zuul. I’d go with an EVH over the old peaveys any day though. And I’ve owned literally every iteration of the 5150 that has been released.

I've owned all of those amps and I agree, they're great. Just looking to try something different. No interest in trying to copy those band's tones, just gave them as an example of the types of music I'm playing.

I really want to like these newer companies and play different amps then the same old classics, some of them do sound good but I haven’t heard anything that’s blown me away where i said i gotta have one of these. My triple is an absolute beast
+1 to this. That's mostly why I'm looking. Just curious about the new companies and what they can offer is all. I've owned all the classics, want to try something new and see if anything is actually worth it.

Yeah, I totally hear that. Unfortunately I’ve just been left disappointed with some of the newer companies. Driftwood, omega, victory, Revv, all were letdowns for me personally. MLC looks really promising, and mezzabarba look pretty promising, but I know the mezzabarbas are essentially an SLO with some tweaks.

I’ll stick with the OG boutiques like wizards, and bogners. Also for the price splawns are badass imo.

I’ve owned a KSR Gemini, played a colossus & the Revv model mentioned, have tried almost the whole Engl line-up, owned a SE EL34, Inferno, Artist, Extreme Aggression, Invader 150. Honestly I wouldn’t really recommend any of them. For my taste they all sound too artificial & compressed. Revv would be last place of the 3 and most bland sounding of them. SE EL34 has good growl and very extended lows, one one of the best Engl’s imo, but very compressed. KSR is not as synthetic sounding as those 2 (still is though) and can be more open

RacerU4Her’s post I know was a joke, but an old 2 ch Rev F Triple would for the most part humiliate those amps. For modern, recent made high gain amps I’ve still kept the Beta & Badlander. The Beta is imo a better amp than these 3, but tough to come by unfortunately
Sell me your beta

I will say that a Multi Watt Triple Rectifier is better for me. I love my Omega Granophyre. If I was to add another couple amps it would be an evh 5150 iii, jcm 800 2203, and a Badlander/ Orange Rockerverb. Mesa has never let me down with the sound. My only fear is the Badlander being extremely tight like my KSR stuff was. I prefer big, loose and bold. The Juno was the closest to the Rectifier than any of the KSR amps I've had. I still have a Gemini but it's not functioning right now. I left it in my vehicle too long and the front panel is locked up. Going to be taking it to KSR here in a couple months to snag a 412 and get Gemini repaired.

I spent some time with the Rhodes (KSR) Colossus and thought it was a good amp....just kind of generic sounding IMO

MatrixClaw - did you ever land on an amp?

I ask because this thread is over 3 months old.

PS: MatrixClaw is a big reason why I have a Splawn

If you decide to go with an EVH Stealth 100 hit me up, I’m going to list mine.

I did. I actually had decided on the Revv Generator 120 Mk III even though people's opinions online were super mixed. Found a guy who wanted to trade and he assured me he was good, even though I was going to be on vacation for a week and a half... Then I came home and he said he was going to ship it in 2 days, never heard from him and then he finally gave me some sob story about his ex-wife stealing his credit card and racking up a bunch of debt he had to pay off now... Then about a week later I see his buddy post a picture of a Bogner Shiva he traded it for 🤦‍♂️

Had another trade offer for the SE but I had already turned him down. The guy who had the Colossus had sold it... So I ended up picking up a Bogner 101b on a whim, assuming I wouldn't care for it much like the first time, but I wanted to try it again. Ended up loving it and it's likely the first amp I've owned that I don't think I'll ever sell.

That said, I AM currently debating on selling some guitars I'm not using and getting a second amp. We'll see. It'll probably either be a Bogner Twin Jet, a Multiwatt Recto or a Peavey Invective, but I haven't quite decided on whether I'll do it or not. Everytime I play the 101b, it kills my GAS. Had the chance to hear someone else use it the other day and was amazed how great it sounded for completely different sounds through my same settings. It's really the first multichannel amp that I can't really fault anything on, each channel is badass.
