My band got invited to play for a Halloween party this year at a venue we've been playing at for over a year now. I thought about getting a cheapy electric off Craigslist and smashing that mo-fo all to pieces on the last song of the last set of the night. Hell, it's Halloween so why not have some fun?

Question: Gay or cool?

Well, I guess that depends...

If I'm drunk = cool!

If I'm sober = really, REALLY gay!

Smashing guitar isnt something you plan. It just happens.

Smashing guitar =gay

Lighting guitar on fire then smashing it = tEh bRoOtUlZ!

Yeah, I was planning on smashing this POS, too

And yeah, I think planning to smash a guitar is pretty lame.

well, get it, dont plan on smashing it, when you decide you want to play the guitar, get pissed off with it then smash it, not cuz it was planned, cuz you were pissed off with the piece of shit=awesome

Also, Paul Stanley used to take like 150 guitars on tour with them to smash them and he's not gay. Well... Maybe that wasn't the best example. :)

:hys:

when i was playing in a Rainbow/Deep Purple tribute band I destroyed a cheap Squire on stage in the spirit of a classic Blackmore finale....It was sorta planned but not because it was depending on the crowd and vibe of the gig. The response was wierd, some people got it others just stared and thought I was just pissed off or nuts. I did get laid that night though ..

I think if you're really pissed off about something and it just comes out, then it's cool....as long as no one gets hit with flying guitar parts. Then you might really up shit creek.

Bring the cheap guitar and see how you feel at the end of the night. If the vibe is there (the set goes badly, equipment issues, whatever), you can let off some aggression and smash it

Ok well since it's Halloween how bout I dress up as Pete Townsend and then smash the guitar? Will I be vindicated then?  Yeah, planning might be lame but who's gonna know other than me. Besides, there's got to be some kinda planning. I'm sure as hell not gonna smash up my LP Custom on a whim!

How is that a POS guitar, is it just not a '63 or '63 reissue so you don't like it?

bitchen guitar!

I smashed a ltd m-300 and practice one day so hard the body broke in about four peices and the biggest peice bounced up and hit me in the forehead. My band just laughed at me and I felt pretty stupid afterwards. That guitar pissed me off though so it was worth the forehead trauma.

Yeah, simbasa brought up a good point about pieces flying and someone getting hurt. I may have to rethink this one.

I was kidding ;)

Its a '63 and I love it :D I would expect the gods of guitardom to strike me down instantly if I ever did something so retarded.

many many years ago, I got pissed at my wife, she was my girlfriend back then, and I smashed an arbor flying V, in the privacy of my own home, it put a hole in the floor and I lost that guitar, I should have saved it for the stage, it was an alright guitar, but I will never do that again
