I have one of the best amps in the world (VH4) I love it.....but for some reason I just can't keep my mind of a Schmidt!

This fucking crap sucks... I love my country but the serious problem I have with selling/trading gear sucks so much. I can't sell the amp outside the D.R. because the shipping fees would kill me, and I'm pretty sure NOONE here knows about Diezel amps, therefore noone would pay 3,000 + for one.

I can see it now.. You're gonna sell the vh4 and want her back and still want the Schmidt. Luckily the difference between amps and women is that one amp doesn't care if you keep the other one around. My solution? Sell off some of your other stuff and keep both.

I've had two diezel amps at the same time, and I just can't ... too much money parked

Take a loss on the sale of the VH4 to get the new one you want. You wont be eating that much in costs. they hold re-sale really good.
Make it cheaper in the sale price since shiping is going to kill you.
Then you get the new amp!

man, it's so hard to accept the fact that I'd have to LOSE that much money....... and I'm not unhappy with the VH4 either so it's even HARDER to accept the loss

Well....the most you would probably loose is about $200-$300 dollars in your overall sale/shipping. But it will kill your G.A.S Flames.... :D

not really....check this out:

I payed 2,200 euros for it (U.S.$2,995), I had to pay 250 euros (US $340) to get it shipped from Spain (where I used to live, I'm now in my home country - Dominican Republic (the caribbean)) to get it to peter D. because the amps channel 3 fucked up, and I ended up upgrading it to 2007+ specs. Papa treated me well but still I had to pay 100+ euros for that too (us$130+). then I payed 70 euros to get it moded to 110v (us$95).

so again

2,995 + 340 + 130 + 130 = 3,595

they are charging me close to 320 dollars to get the amp shipped to the US......so as you can see I'd be loosing a ton of money

Wow....that is a big loss. Well since you love the VH4....its worth keeping since you have alot put into it.
If you got $3600 USD into it.....sell it for $3000 shipped. You clear $2700.....Guess it depends on how bad you want the new amp. Do you have more gear to sell?
I am the worst person to talk to about selling/buying gear.
I sell everything to get what I want next!
Whether I take a loss or not. ;)
But good luck in your quest.

nah it's ok. I love my VH4, and It's always GREAT to have one in a studio (I'll be doing both live and studio work) so it's great to have it around.

Dude... the best way is to ignore the problem

The Schmidt doesn't exist.
The Schmidt doesn't exist.
The Schmidt doesn't exist.
The Schmidt doesn't exist.
The what ???

You have a killer amp, don't worry about others

I am getting my 1st Diezel this weekend. A VH4S...
Pretty excited about this!

@Mailman1971
Dan you should work at a music store...

Cheers,
Sascha

All I can say is, there's not a DAY that goes by that I don't plug into my V and think "HOLY MOTHER OF GAWD THIS AMP ROCKS!!!!" and then, somedays, meander through the local music shops - Marshall, Peavey, Mesa...you know, the usual suspects. And have this sales dude come up to me spouting off how this latest most awesome amp from [enter generic everyday amp name here] is just KILLER and how I've never heard tone like that before.

I sometimes am even so heartless as to play through one for 5 minutes and say "well, it's not as good as the one I currently have", which always BEGS the question. And when I answer it - they often look at their feet and stop talking.

Diezel V's rip the heads off other amps. Period. Never, ever think the grass is greener on the other side - the V was the sound that made Diezel and it's still the amp making that sound. I love the Herbert, the Einy, you name it - but the V is King.

Peace,
V.

Although it's true that you've spend a lot of money on your particular amp, you can't really consider all of it as money "into" the amp. Sorry, Joey, but shipping doesn't count. That's not a cost of the amp, that's a cost of moving halfway across the world, as is the 110v conversion. It sucks that you had to get channel 3 fixed, but a $130 fix on any amp isn't really that bad - that's less than a full retube...and the fact that you had it updated to current specs (and by the master himself, no doubt) might actually increase the resale value more than the cost of the repair.

As far as I see it, you've only really got $2995 into the amp itself...the rest is in shipping and general maintenance. It won't be too hard to sell the VH4 for the same price, and if you split shipping (We'll say $120), you're only out $60 of the original price, minus all of the sunk costs.

I see you point on the shipping thing (it's an expence that comes by default in this game right?) but it's still out of my pocket so, imo, it's money spent.

130 for the repair if awesome, papa really considered me and I owe him for that, I wasn't complaining about that, I just added it to the sum :)
