not really....check this out:
I payed 2,200 euros for it (U.S.$2,995), I had to pay 250 euros (US $340) to get it shipped from Spain (where I used to live, I'm now in my home country - Dominican Republic (the caribbean)) to get it to peter D. because the amps channel 3 fucked up, and I ended up upgrading it to 2007+ specs. Papa treated me well but still I had to pay 100+ euros for that too (us$130+). then I payed 70 euros to get it moded to 110v (us$95).
so again
2,995 + 340 + 130 + 130 = 3,595
they are charging me close to 320 dollars to get the amp shipped to the US......so as you can see I'd be loosing a ton of money
Although it's true that you've spend a lot of money on your particular amp, you can't really consider
all of it as money "into" the amp. Sorry, Joey, but shipping doesn't count. That's not a cost of the amp, that's a cost of moving halfway across the world, as is the 110v conversion. It sucks that you had to get channel 3 fixed, but a $130 fix on
any amp isn't really that bad - that's less than a full retube...and the fact that you had it updated to current specs (and by the master himself, no doubt) might actually increase the resale value more than the cost of the repair.
As far as I see it, you've only really got $2995 into the amp itself...the rest is in shipping and general maintenance. It won't be too hard to sell the VH4 for the same price, and if you split shipping (We'll say $120), you're only out $60 of the original price, minus all of the sunk costs.
