I don’t really get the hate here at all, good luck to her. Of all the shit going on in the world, some 19 year old kid using youtube to try and have a career in music really shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. More so if it encourages more girls to pick up a guitar and have the belief that it can become their job.

I record guitarists twice her age who are nowhere as good and have a far worse attitude. And god knows how many blokes there are on youtube who suck ass at guitar who are making a living on there.

I’ll take Sophie Lloyde.

I'll give her that she can play! But jeez, she's like WAY aware of her looks and posing, re-adjusting the strap to show more cleavage, hair flips and everything.

Regarding the OP's chick; yep, meh face. Rebel Wilson meets Alixpress Ivanka T.

Pretty big difference between hate and humor guy.

Yeah except this 100% driven by ‘check my rack out’ and zero to do with actual effort or talent. If she was dressed in a gunnysack she would have all of 6 followers.

this girls is a great drummer but I see her real talents lie elsewhere :)

I don't know if it's the fact that I'm no longer a teenager but every time I see a woman, no matter how hot she is, do the whole "look how HOT and SULTRY I am" look straight into a camera, I go straight to "She's not looking at me, she's looking at a clunky, unblinking camera lens, a machine about as appealing as a printer, and making those faces. I am being manipulated for money" and am immediately, totally turned off.

Even the look itself is annoying. "I'm so hot. All men think I'm hot. Look how hot you think I am. Since the moment I hit puberty, stupid men have positively reinforced for me the idea that if I do this specific series of movements at them with my face, they will give me what I want, and I think you're at least as dumb as they were. Give me money."

tbf, glenn fricker has more than 6 followers and that’s even considering he has his shirt off in his opening credits.

half of the teenage humoured comments in this thread basically sum up why she has so many followers in the first place. baffles me that a 19 year old woman having a pair of tits and not dressing like a nun
gets such a reaction from adults on a forum like this, but if I was in her shoes and had half a chance of making a career as a musician, I wouldn’t be afraid of wearing a dress on camera. In fact I’d probably be wearing even less if I earned enough. What exactly should she be doing different?

GURL HAZ BOOBZ IZ FUNNY LOOOOL

FWIW I don’t find her videos interesting at all, but I could say the same about 99.999% of videos on youtube. There’s all kinds of crap on there that gets a ton of attention, and in the grand scheme of things this is so tame and inoffensive. If someone can make a living on there, good luck to them.

You seem to be missing the point.

The consensus here is, if it wasn't for her ample cleavage, which she clearly is actively using as an asset, she wouldn't be as popular as a guitarplayer, since she's not that great on the guitar.

Whatever juvenile 'cover her face with sperm' posts may say, this was clearly the consensus.

Remember back in the 70's and 80's, when 'ugly' people with actual talent could make it big? (I mean...Mark Knopfler...). Now it seems the other way around. :cautious:

I totally get that, but is it a problem? Should she dress differently so people ONLY judge her for her guitar playing? I don’t think that’s really what the channel is trying to achieve. What she’s doing seems totally normal to me, there’s enough cringey meathead guitarists flexing muscles or flaunting whatever other insecurities they may have.

I don’t think her cleavage or ability on guitar really have that much bearing on things, the internet is absolute full to the brim of naked women and talented guitarists playing all kinds of styles of guitar. I don’t think that’s really enough of a reason to sub, as I said, look at Glenn Fricker. People assuming the only reason she has that many followers is solely down to the fact she wears fairly low cut dresses is what I don’t get. There’s clearly more to it than that, whether we can understand or not.

Is she really using them that much as an asset? I’m guessing a lot of people follow because they can probably relate in one way or another. A lot of people (particularly girls) have taken up learning guitar since the pandemic, and generally women still a very under represented demographic on guitarist youtube. Someone fairly down to earth and early on in their career might be more interesting than watching another shredder widdle their way through the same old music for a lot of people. I’d imagine channels like hers appeal (and are aimed) more to my little sister than me.

I think a lot of people are bemused because there are so few that have done anything similar yet. I don’t think she’s being particularly sleazy, and i’m pretty certain there will be some girls who’ll be a lot worse.

For comparison: Paul Gilbert - 162k, Kiko Louriero - 594k, Joe Satriani - 493k, Ben Eller -425k .Steve Vai and David Gilmour do have her beat but only by 100k.....for now lol.

This video has just under 15k views and Chelsea has 28k subs....curious...

This one has 1.7 MILLION views......hey hey!

Every female I've shown the video to laughed and was like yeah ok, really?

Chelsea has done one video in the last year, and all of the videos appear to just be performance videos. I don’t think she’s taking a career on Youtube particularly seriously, if she really wanted to go at it I’m sure she’d have more varied content and would have a far bigger audience. The reason it’s so much smaller is because she clearly doesn’t care that much about it at the moment. Talent or ability or looks have bugger all to do with it.

The other girl has done 82 videos in that time and they involve more than just playing songs. Being amazing at guitar won’t get you subs on its own, engaging and connecting with the audience will. Since when did being technically proficient at an instrument count for anything other than being technically good at your instrument? In fact, a lot of people I respect across so many fields in life would be the last people i want to follow on youtube. There are athletes that are incredible at what they do on the field, but I genuinely couldn’t care less what they get up to outside that. Lots of musicians are like that too, the art they make is infinitely more interesting than their normal day to day stuff.

As i’ve said already, there are lots of people on youtube with questionable talent/ability but who have found an audience that connects with them. Sometimes you get guys like Tim Pierce who’ve done amazingly well at both, but honestly, being good at youtube is a job in itself and most active pro’s in their field don’t have time to be making content all the time. How many albums does Warren Huart actually work on each year?

In fact, I’m quite suspicious of a lot of the producers and engineers who are taking youtube more seriously than their own music career. So many who’ve done a handful of medium releases and then try and sell their “secrets” for a quick buck.

Genuinely don’t see any problem with some kid doing well on youtube, if it helps them have a career in music and playing guitar rather than some boring job that they hate then good luck to them - I’d be more annoyed if those legendary guitarists were taking youtube more seriously than their music career, than some Youtube personality having a good run. Maybe things will end up going that way, but for now, thank fuck they don’t need to work several days a week making dull youtube videos.

I think most of the interest is down to the fact there are so few other girls doing something similar - there’s clearly a huge void with an audience ready to connect to it. Hopefully more girls feel inspired to play guitar and make better youtube content, if they can make a living off it then it’s only a good thing.

You can't be that naive, come on bro. :D

This girl has exactly one video where she is not showing off the girls and it is literally the least viewed video on her channel by a huge margin. People aren't "connecting" with anything but the jugs.

Every one of her videos' comment sections are filled to the brim with clueless 40-60 year old dudes with profile pics of themselves they banged out on the spot with the front-facing cameras of their cell phones pointing up at the underside of their chins, and they’re doting over her, calling her beautiful, asking non yes/no questions hoping to start a conversation.

All of that is whatever if all parties know what's going on and are cool with it I guess, but let's call a spade a spade here. This isn't somebody boldly engaging with a new demographic of previously untapped future music fans. It's dudes staring at tits.
