This was pretty cool - Sotto doing Yngwie (again)

Dino and Sotto rule.

I'm encouraged by Dino's thing It's like a Jorn but a young guy. I reckon younger metalheads might not be thrilled by it, but whatever. Go listen to geometry, or palligamy or whatever the fuck it is.

My only problem with older albums is they all lost to the loudness war. In my car, most albums I put to volume "25" and to me that is blasting it volume wise; as opposed to albums like Marching Out, I have to put to at least 30 for the same perceived volume. If I have every song on shuffle and forget to turn the volume back down after a Marching Out song, boy my ears will nearly bleed.

The biggest disgrace in album production, and it is so freaking quiet and poorly produced, is Thresholds by Nocturnus.

Yeah dude you dont understand how the loudness war has killed dynamics in recording.

There have always been mixing/mastering mistakes.

We all love loud records.

Crying about dynamics on a Carcass record is hilarious. What are you referring to?

Don't look at him while he sings. Just put on some of the covers he has done on youtube, the guy has an incredible voice. Does the Dio, Coverdale thing perfectly. Sort of a blend of the two plus some crazy wails. I liked his Queen cover. Serious chops and control. Feels the music although albeit, a bit too dramatically.
I have seen pretty much everything he has done and I just can't stand him ... the thing he did with lynch was ok (musically) but he was just Coverdale on that. His nasal roof of the mouth vocal style just basically sounds way too much like his influences (coverdale, dio .. maybe even Ray Gillen) .. he just isn't for me

Have you heard death magnetic? Are you serious? You think "modern metal" production is GOOD for the genre as a whole? Everything loud all the time, with no dynamics or nuance? Are you fucking high?

by the way, you're entitled to your bad, wrong opinions

I'm just glad i've never had to work with a producer, engineer, or record label suit with opinions so awful

I dont have the knowledge to comment about the top end of anything, all I know is if it sounds good to me or not. There are good and bad albums production wise in every Era.

Which leads me to another side question, when did casual (or perhaps more serious) music listeners start being concerned with album productions? Was it a thing in the 70's or 80's to be like, wow that's some real muddy bass drum or bass guitar. Or, that guitar is too treble or honky? Granted that was when there were actual records that people put on a record player....did every single album sound good? When did people become so nitpicky about album production? (Myself included)
I think when they all started sounding the same to be honest. That and the volume wars.

totally fair. You are right, he sort of is a mash up of all these guys without being one of them or himself really. I dig it but I sort of hear other guys singing while he does. Because I like those guys, I think he's great. But I also get the cringe comments and like he is a carbon copy.

Show me modern metal with dynamics.

there is soooo much unintended comedy in that video!
who was the girl?
the cameraman's ex gf?
Dino's hand moves and sincere facial expressions!
Who wrote the "script" for the shoot?

Then there's the meaning of the song - the abysmal BETA "please don't leave me lyrics" are so fucking pathetic!
so cliche so trite so horrendous and anti masculine!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DON'T GO
DON'T LET IT END!
:m9:

Bitch please
get the fuck out ,they be 5 more whores waiting to swing from deez nuts :ROFLMAO:

Jeff scott sounds great and the guitar playing is awesome.
Jeff was Yngwie's ultimate foil,
It's sad to think Yngwie is not capable of writing basic tracks like this anymore as his ego and his wife have fully destroyed his creativity and growth as a composer.

Marching Out is my favorite also. I Am a Viking, Soldier Without Faith, Marching Out, Overture 1383, Don't Let It End, I'll See the Light Tonight and more.
it was the perfect and logical progression from rising force which was so ground breaking at the time it dropped.
there was very little else like it as far as technique by 1983
only al dimeola and uli were in the same realm of unfuckwithability

I know, he keeps rehashing the shitty material he wrote 15 years ago instead of the good shit he wrote 30+ years ago.

Absolutely excellent band, and also have excellent, natural sounding production 👍

Sounds like real drums with minimal "assist". Great old school vibe. Sounded like an older production and not a new school 100 track count. I just picked up a sweet old RAMSA 20 channel 1985 mixer with 8 buss channels out. Looking forward to stripping everything back for my own music. So fun to see the massive faders and board and work with what you got instead of all these damn tracks and endless plugin options. I am going to post a shot of it once I finish repurposing an old desk to mount it.

Dude, awesome!!! I'm excited to see it all set up!!

It's a damn tank. The Japanese built stuff to withstand an atomic bomb.. the chinese make stuff that snaps off when you move it the wrong way. We'll see what it sounds like soon enough. Waiting on some wheels for the desk as my wife pointed out how annoyed I would be if I had to plug things in and out of the back and it was installed close to a wall. She's a smart one i tells ya! I can't lift this thing alone.
