Who's the snowflake??
Some rich kid I guess
Boring

I'm very sorry to say that this did not happen. You think it did. But it couldn't have possibly happened. :)
It happened to me too, more times than I can remember. I had guys argue that Clapton, Beck, Paige, Hendrix, even Gilmour were better than VH. Or even Joe Perry.

Sounds more like a String Trimmer.
He was locked in a legal dispute with "Weed Eater" over the date of original design.

It was sort of like a "Tesla / Marconi" thing.. only about string trimmers.

I'm pretty sure it did.

This guy's dad invented the "Weed Eater".
LOL, I know it did happen. Same as happened to me. The old guys didn't embrace Van Halen just like the equivalent old guys didn't embrace Elvis or the Beatles or Hendrix etc. heck, the other guitarist in my band, was a total Van Halen/Rhoads freak too and when Yngwie came out, he drew a line in the sand as was like, NOPE, that's it. That's too much. He didn't like him because he didn't want to have to elevate his playing to yet another level. We were struggling to play Rhoads and Van Halen and now this guy just took it up a notch.

Exactly, right? Hello? Not an uncommon occurrence as I tried to point out in my first post and was told that it couldn't have possibly happened. lol

The messed up part is that not all the guys that argued for the old guard were old guys, I had guys in my high school that felt that way. Two in particular that argued Clapton would wipe the floor with EVH, one of those two guys PLAYED GUITAR and should have known better, AND he was two years YOUNGER than me.

And this one, I have to say, Kapo, you are from the country that gave us this:

lol true..but those guys were hip for the time, just like Tim! PLus I can actually tap my foot to Loverboy vs listening to Polyphia's pinball machine song writing :P

This guy was probably in his 20's.

From his point of view, Beck had already done everything Ed Van Halen was doing.

I’m digging the new necklace and those sweats look comfy

Sweet looking boob window turtleneck he's got there.

And did he get lip and cheeckbone filler? He's starting to look like one of those aging new money housewives.

don't be too sure about that. I recall one of the members of The Sweet was severely beaten in part due to his looks and clothing when he was just out and about somewhere in the UK?
What I said was a generalisation obviously; there're always exceptions to blanket rules.

Amongst the myriad of cock-rock and glam-metal stars back in the day, one would expect there'd have been the odd exception who dolled himself up at-home. :dunno:

Someone once beat up Peter Cetera of the band Chicago.

I mean, who the fuck hates "Chicago" ?

Ummmm, no. Loverboy was never hip. There used to be a great player on Rig-Talk back in the day who was from Canada, "randyvansykes" was his name I think. We used to have some awesome threads where we all really gave each other a bunch of crap but had some great discussions and anytime "RVS" was on the other side of an argument, we would just tell him that he was from the same country that Loverboy was from and that made his opinion wrong. LOL, he didn't have much of a comeback for that.

They were hip enough to be in heavy rotation on MTV, so they WERE hip with a general audience, maybe not with guitar players. Besides, Canada gave us Rush and Triumph too, can’t be all bad.

Wasn't Anvil from Canada too?
