Ok. About the Tonex, IIRC Pete Thorn and few others mentioned how the profiled sounds always end up having for some reason lower gain than the source, at least on the original Tonex software and unit. Idk if this has been fixed but have you noticed something like this going on with Tonex?
I figured out the answer why the ToneX One by default is too quiet! There are two volume knobs on the ToneX One. The global output volume setting is somewhat hidden.
By default the "GLOBAL" output volume on the ToneX One is really low for some reason, based on my experience it seems like it’s at 50%. The "GLOBAL" output volume isn’t shown or adjustable in ToneX software, you have do it on the pedal itself. Here are the steps.
1. Power on ToneX Pedal
2. Go into GLOBAL Settings mode by holding down the "ALT" button for 6 seconds (READ IMPORTANT NOTE)
IMPORTANT NOTE: While you are holding down the alt button it will blink after about 4 seconds which is NOT GLOBAL settings mode, you have to keep holding for another 2 seconds to go into GLOBAL Settings mode. The first blinking stage is a "lock" mode which will not let you change any of the settings in the pedal, if you try to change anything it will just blink at you. To get out of "Lock" mode you have to hold the Alt button down for 4 seconds again for it to blink and indicate that it is out of lock mode.
3. Once in GLOBAL Settings mode turn the volume knob up. For "ME" I turned the volume knob up ALL THE WAY TO THE MAX by turning the volume/gain knob to the left and then all the way to the right. That seemed to make the pedal behave like I was expecting to get level parity with my other stomp pedals and amp modeling. I can still adjust the volume for each preset, so I don't know why the default global volume isn't max by default. Dumb.
4. Press the "pedal" on/off/switcher button to get out of global settings mode.
5. Enjoy your ToneX pedal instead of hate how it was impossible to get it loud enough.
