Took the plunge VH4

I found the best thing with all Diezel Amps is to start at 12 o clock & tweak from there. I do tend to push the mids higher, the highs less-so & the bass I leave around 12.
I have my deep & presence set to 11/12. Beyond 1'o'clock, I find the deep starts to get a bit whoofy & the presence gets a bit hairy. I don't have any gains on Ch 2, 3 & 4 set higher than 12 I don't think.

Peter recommended to set thechannel volumes to 12 I think. I tend to roll back a bit on the drive channel volumes to 10 & push the master. The power section seems to add a lot of rich character & room, especially with the KT77 tubes.

I dunno how anyone sets their master to 12 practicing at home. I don't think i've even played a show at that kind of volume. That is proper involuntary prolapse levels of volume.

All depends on application of course & my settings will change in different environments. I'm playing leads in standard tuning & I run a few compression & drive devices in front of the amp. That way I get all the desired gain, compression & pick attack without dialing in aggressive settings on the amplifier. When I run the signal dry, the amp is dialed in pretty tame & balanced. In many ways, I probably don't make the most of what the amp is capably designed to do. I just really rate how balanced & versatile the map is.

The clean is an understated channel on this amp I think. I don't have the bright switch engaged. I pump the mids & backup on the hair. My Keeley makes this channel sound amazing.

I'll need to try the channel vol/master vol at higher levels i.e. setting channel vol higher (like noon) and master down. amps just sounds glorious - wondering if a Hagen would be worth a try as well...

With ch 3 I usually run my bass and depth at noon, Depending on the mood and guitar my mids are anywhere from 11 to 1:00, gain 1:30, pres at 1:00 and treble at 1:00. Im using a uberkab and evh gb loaded cab. Master vol at noon. I play at loud vol and like a brighter tone that cuts. By looking at everybodys settings i doubt you guys would like mine because i run the pres alot higher, might be too bright for most people.

I love the amp, ive only had it for 6 weeks but its already one of my favorites.
The feel is something that works great for me, very tight and a quick attack.

this is almost the same eq as I did at first - liked it

played yesterday at higher volume into Bogner Uberkab :D sounded fantastic, I actually liked how it sounded with the V30/G1275 better than the Mills :scared:

I play mine with a uberkab most of the time and i think its a great match.

I played mine with my Bogner 4x12. Had G12M Greenbacks at one point (sounded good). Swapped 'em for G12-65s and those rock with the VH4.

Mines a D-Moll, but my 4x12 is V30s and G12K100s in an X-Pattern, Perfect Sound. I imagine the speaker combo you have is similar...???
Congrats on the new Amp.

i have a evh 4x12 with the evh labeled greenbacks that are pretty much heritage gb and i like that cab with the vh4 also, ch2 sounds better with the evh cab than the uberkab to me, ch3 sounds awesome with both cabs. one week i might switch to the evh cab and then go back to the uberkab. im really happy the amp works great with both. i wasnt even gonna try the evh cab with the vh4 but i remembered you liked that amp with gb's.

Yeah it all depends on what you're going for. I like the mid-range growl Greenback and their variants have. The G12-65s handle more power than regular GBs, so they were a better choice for a 100 watter.

UberKab was my preference over a V30 loaded Diezel Cab.
G12K100 loaded Diezel cab was my preference over the UberKab.
Specific to the VH4.

UberKab's got a lot going for it for a number of amps out there IMHO.

SICK. It took me weeks to dial in a tone but now Its my go to amp. Enjoy!

another obligatory clip - can't recall if I was on channel 3 or 4 for this, I think ch 4
